The Best Spot’s In Australia For A Beach Getaway

If COVID-19 has taught us anything, it is that we can never take traveling for granted ever again! Australia might be the furthest place away from us over here in the United States of America, but it is worth every dollar and every minute of travel to go over there and see its true beauty. Australia has some of the most beautiful beaches. Here are some of the best spots in Australia for your perfect (and much-needed!) beach getaway.

1. Surfer’s Paradise Beach, Gold Coast, Queensland

Now, before we get started, it is important to note that Australia is a continent but can also be called a country too. Within Australia, there are states. Some of these states are Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. Within these states, similar to the United States, are towns and cities. I just want to ensure everyone is on the same page before we get into things!

Surfer’s Paradise Beach is located in the city of Gold Coast, which is in the state of Queensland. Do you follow? This beach is absolutely gorgeous. It is a huge long stretch of white sands and calm waters. My favorite part about Surfer’s Paradise Beach is the fact that right behind it is the “downtown” section of Gold Coast. It is a bustling city that reminds me a lot of Los Angeles. It is one of the best spots in Australia, especially if you want a mixture of a city and a beach getaway!

2. Burleigh Beach, Gold Coast, Queensland

Burleigh Beach in the Gold Coast is another one of the best spots in Australia for a beach getaway. Burleigh Beach is absolutely stunning but it also feels a bit more home-like than your typical beach. It is surrounded by trees and hiking trails, as well as restaurants and bars that really make you feel like you are in an awesome and welcoming environment (because you are!). I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to study abroad in the Gold Coast, so I am super familiar with these beaches. Definitely give it a visit if you find yourself traveling over to Australia in the near future.

3. Byron Bay, New South Wales

Byron Bay is in New South Wales, another state in Australia. Byron Bay is a small town in Australia that is super touristy. Fun fact: The Hemsworth brothers are from Byron Bay- and they still live there today! Of course, they travel for work and such, but they do reside there! Byron is full of STUNNING beaches. It is one of the best spots in Australia for a beach getaway because it is an adorable little beach town with tons of places to stay, from hotels to Air BnB’s. All of Byron’s beaches have crystal clear water and white sand, and you can even learn how to surf there! I know I did!

4. Bondi Beach, Sydney, New South Wales

Bondi Beach is probably one of the most well-known spots in Australia for beaches. It is the main beach in Sydney, New South Wales. Bondi Beach is one of the best spots in Australia for it is such a huge beach with restaurants and bars all around it. When I went to Bondi Beach, it was absolutely packed! We tanned on the beach and got lunch at a restaurant overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful. Another awesome thing about Bondi Beach is that there is a huge tourist attraction right next to it called the Bondi Iceberg Pools. It is, quite literally, a cold pool/ swim club that overlooks the ocean. It has become such a tourist attraction throughout the years for people visiting the area.

5. Noosa Main Beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Ugh. Noosa is one of the best spots in Australia for a beach getaway because it is literally hidden. It is super underrated because it is never ever talked about as much as it should be! When I studied abroad in Australia, my program director told me to go to Noosa- for I have never heard of it, but it seemed beautiful online. It is similar to Byron Bay in the sense that it is a small-town vibe with cute shops and restaurants. The beaches though… were unreal. I have no words to describe how gorgeous the views were in Noosa. You must go and see for yourself- no words do it justice!

Whitsundays is another stunning spot in Australia. Its beaches, as the name says, are literally full of white sands. It is so dreamy you will never want to leave. There are a ton of different boat tours that can bring you to Whitehaven Beach in Whitsundays. It is worth every penny to go to this beach. You will capture some magnificent photo’s that you will never forget- or be able to top, ever.

7. Port Campbell Beach, Melbourne, Victoria

Melbourne is a city in Victoria, Australia that is huge and so much fun! There is so much to do in Melbourne, such as drive along the Great Ocean Road. The Great Ocean Road is around a 7-hour long drive of a road (yes, it is huge) full of tourist stops and beautiful national monuments such as the 12 Apostles. One of the best beaches on this road is Port Campbell Beach. At various stops along the road, you can park and walk down to the beaches to walk around or even to relax or take pictures. Port Campbell Beach has stunning sands and it is right next to the 12 Apostles, so you are bound to get some great shots!

Did these beautiful beaches make you want to travel right on over to Australia as much as it did for me? I hope so!
