The Best Seafood Places In Rhode Island

Rhode Island is the state known for its sailing, sandy beaches, and huge historic mansions. Rhode Island, nicknamed the “Ocean State” is also famous for its incredible seafood. Wonderful local seafood can be found all over, but we helped you out and put together the best and our 10 favorite places you’ll want to visit this summer.

1. Iggy’s Doughboys + Chowder House

Iggy’s Doughboys & Chowder house has two locations in Rhode Island. One located in Warwick and the other Narragansett. The Warwick location is opened year-round! Come for the award-winning chowder, clam cake, and doughboys. Doughboys are fried dough balls topped with your choice of powdered sugar or cinnamon. Wash down your meal with Iggy’s very own homemade sodas! You’ll come back for more. 

2. Rocky Point Clam Shack

Rocky Point started as a popular amusement park in the city of Warwick, Rhode Island. It was the second oldest amusement park in the U.S. The park fell on some hard times and had to declare bankruptcy which resulted in Rocky Point Park closing for good. Today those who grew up attending the amusement park as a child have the opportunity to relive those memories and enjoy delicious red chowder, clam cakes, and steamed clam again at the Rocky Point Clam Shack. 

3. George’s of Galilee

“Eat fish, love life” is the motto of this Narragansett restaurant. Since 1948, George’s of Galilee has been serving up dishes to generations of families. George offers the best in local boat-to-plate seafood, farm-to-table vegetables, lobster specials, and hand-cut steaks. Come for the food but stay for the fantastic views. George’s overlooks the Block Island Sound while nestled in the picturesque fishing port of Galilee. 

4. The Nordic

In Charlestown, Rhode Island you’ll find the Nordic restaurant settled on 90 acres of beautifully manicured grounds. Visit and enjoy both a dining and relaxing atmosphere. Experience live lakeside entertainment during the evenings or choose to relax in a hammock or join a pickup game of volleyball on the sand court. Whether it’s lobster, crab, prime rib, scallops, or shrimp, Nordic promises menu items are prepared with the freshest ingredients.

5. Flo’s Clam Shack

Flo’s clams are world-famous! Since its opening in 1963, Flo has two locations: Portsmouth and Middletown. There was a time where New Englanders searched far and wide for the best-fried clams and discovered them at Flo’s! Fresh, tender, plump, sweet clams lighted dusted in a batter and fried just right— There’s nothing better than that! You got to go to Flo’s! 

6. Providence Oyster Bar

This upscale restaurant is located in Providence, Rhode Island on Historic Federal Hill. Providence Oyster Bar is the proud recipient of the Distinguished Restaurant of North America award. In a neighborhood where Italian food dominates, this seafood restaurant offers a refreshing alternative.

7. Aunt Carrie’s Seafood

Aunt Carrie’s Seafood in Narragansett, Rhode Island serves the best and traditional RI seafood and homemade cooking. A few stops from local beaches, so you’ll never go hungry while spending a day swimming and soaking up the sun. This is the place where locals and tourists can relax and take in the beautiful views that make up Rhode Island.

Stop in after dinner or the beach for homemade Rhode Island Ice-cream, homemade waffle cones, apple pies a la mode, old fashioned ice cream sodas, and soft-serve ice cream. 8. The Mooring Restaurant

The Mooring has been a long-standing establishment in Newport Harbor. Indulge in a glass of wine, beer, or a specialty cocktail from an extensive list. Try the popular Mooring Scampi which includes pan-roasted lobster, shrimp, and sea scallops served in a tomato-dill purée. Notorious for its seafood, Mooring’s land items are equally delicious. The half-roasted chicken with whipped Yukon gold potato, turnips, carrots, with a side of rosemary-roasted garlic jus is only $24! 

9. Anthony’s Seafood

Middletown, Rhode Island is where you’ll venture to Anthony’s Seafood. Anthony’s supplies products to retail, restaurant, and other local businesses as a wholesale seafood provider so you know you are getting the very best in fresh seafood while dining here. Experience casual dining service as you order at the counter and take your number and wait for a waitress to bring your meal.

Try the Kung Pao Calamari plate which includes fried squid rings, hot peppers, plum chili sauce, peanuts and scallions for $9.95 or the Stuffed Quahog which is stuffing with clams, chorizo, onions, peppers and spice for $2.95! Both items were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The portions are generous and very reasonably priced making Anthony’s one of the best places to eat in Rhode Island. 

10. Black Pearl

Not just the name of Captain Jack’s ship in the Pirates of the Caribbean, The Black Pearl is a popular seafood establishment located on the historic Banister’s wharf in Rhode Island. Choose from four different venue settings, such as the fashionable Commodore’s Room for an upscale dining experience or dine at the outdoor patio on Newport’s famous open-air bar. If you’re visiting for the first time or the twentieth, a cup of the world-famous Black Pearl Clam Chowder is always a great selection! 

Hungry for crab, lobster, scallops, or clams? You won’t find better seafood than that in Rhode Island. We still have a few short months before the summer season is upon us, bringing with it lobster season and other tasty crustaceans.
