College students deal with A LOT of stress. You’re on your own for the first time and you have to balance responsibilities, tough classes, a social life, and extracurricular’s, all while dealing with that looming sense of fear that comes from the fact that you’re unsure of what you want to do with your lives. These are the less glamorous aspects of college life- it isn’t all parties all the time. Sometimes it gets to be too much and you find yourself in the midst of an emotional breakdown. In these moments of internal crisis, it’s important to have a safe space to go to. Here are some of the best places to let it all out when you’re stressed at Cal Poly.
The optimal place for a much-needed crying session is somewhere that’s familiar and comforting. AKA, your bed. Turn on some sad music, wrap yourself up in a blanket cocoon, and let the waterworks flow. This is a judgment free zone.
If you’re too distraught to even make it into your bed, it’s perfectly understandable to just collapse onto the floor and let it all out. Hopefully your roommates don’t walk in on you, but even if they do, don’t worry about it because they’ve definitely been in your position before.
You can lock yourself in for as long as you want and you don’t have to worry about anyone seeing your crying face. It’s like your own private panic room, which is why it’s one of the best places to cry when you’re stressed at Cal Poly.
Why not kill two birds with one stone and combine your mental breakdown with a good workout? It’s a double whammy of tending to your physical health and your emotional health. If you can’t tell your sweat from your tears, you’re doing it right. Maybe those endorphins that everyone’s always talking about will start to make you feel better.
There’s something about crying in the shower that just feels right. It’s like these two activities were meant to go together. The warmth is soothing and the water washes away your tears, while the sound of the shower drowns out your weeping.
Yeah it may feel like your life is falling apart, but at least you have frozen yogurt. So you have one thing going for you. That should make you feel a little bit better.
A true friend will love and support you in your darkest moments. That’s what friends are for. Let the people in your life show you how much they love you by opening yourself up to them when you’re down.
Since a lot of us spend most of our time in here, it makes sense that some tears are going to come out. Just let it happen. The other people in there are probably in a similar emotional state and just might join your pity party.
Here you can have peace and quiet without having to worry about any interruptions. Become one with nature and observe the beauty around you while letting your wails out. The fresh air will do you some good and help you clear your head.
Crying can really take a lot out of you. You need food to keep your energy level up. The food at 805 is a little suspicious, which means the people around you are too distracted by trying to figure out what’s in the mystery meat too notice your distress. Go ahead and cry without shame.
