The Best Parts Of Campus Life All New Students Should Know

If your excited or nervous, or a little bit of both, about heading out to college this fall that’s totally normal. Set yourself at ease by checking out this list of the best parts of campus life.

1. You make your own house rules

This is only to a certain degree but at college, you never have to worry about your parents setting you a curfew or telling you lights out. Respect this new found freedom and try not to stay up all night watching Netflix too many times.

2. Meeting new people

When you go to university you’ll have so many opportunities to meet people it might be overwhelming. Once you’re outside your bubble you can become friends with people from across the country and around the world.

3.Reinvent yourself as many times as you want

Shed your old identity and become who you want to be when you get to campus. Going to college away from home means people don’t have a preconceived idea of you so feel free to be the person you’ve always wanted to be. This can also be as simple as picking up a new hobby, deciding to play a new sport, or trying out some new style. The old you might not have worn cheetah print but the new you certainly can.

4. Live next door to your besties

If you’re super lucky you and your roommate will bond like crazy and become best friends, if not you’re sure to make friends with some people on your floor. Now any time you want to hang out you just have to walk a few doors over!

5. Hang out with like-minded people

Living in a small town, or going to a smaller high school means the group of people you hang out with can be limited. Maybe you luck out and find someone with the same interests as you, maybe you don’t. That won’t be the case on campus. There are clubs for every niche interest or hobby you can think of so you’re never too far from people just like you! Also, college can be super interesting in exposing you to things you’ve never experienced before so keep your mind everything you can.

6. Take classes your actually interested in

Remember in high school when you had to take all of those set classes so you could get into your dream college? Well, now you’re there so you have the opportunity to take whatever you’re interested in. Sit down with your academic advisor early on and see how you can get your schedule full of all the classes you’re interested in.

7. Free services

When else in your life will you have access to a state of the art gym at no extra cost? Take advantage of all the free services you have on campus because you’ll miss them when you’re out in the real world. Also, be sure to use that student discount and take advantage of cheaper prices on campus and off.

8. The dining hall

If you want to eat waffles every day and froyo every night no one is going to stop you! Take advantage of the good eats campus life affords you because you’ll miss them when you are in your own place. Also, beware the pesky freshman 15, there’s a reason the gym is free!

9. There’s always something going on

Campus life is always busy! There will be so many events you’ll struggle to hit them all but at least you’ll never be bored. So throw on your university hoodies, hit a sports game and enjoy all that campus life has to offer.
