The Best Non-Toxic Beauty Products That Don’t Cost A Fortune

Non-toxic beauty is a major trend right now. Celebrities like Gwenyth Paltrow have received major attention for focusing on products that are good for our skin and the environment. The beauty and fashion industries are some of the biggest polluters, and it’s about time that changed. Plus, all the additives that are in a lot of products are really bad for our skin and health. There are some seriously scary ingredients in most shampoos, face washes, and makeup that you find at drugstores, or even at beauty staples like Sephora and Ulta. The takeaway: Your whole routine needs a serious upgrade. Your skin will thank you later.

My only gripe about the whole thing is that the non-toxic lifestyle hasn’t trickled down to more affordable companies yet, leaving us to blow our entire paycheck on one or two products from Goop. Here are some of the best products I’ve found that are organic, non-toxic, and won’t leave you near tears when you go to check out.

100% Pure

Not only is this brand all-natural, but they also use recycled packaging, which is a bonus for the environment. Some of their face masks are less than $10, and they have a huge range of products, including both makeup and skincare. All of their stuff is made with essential oils, so it smells delicious without being irritating, and it’s totally free of any artificial ingredients.

They use fruit to pigment their makeup but still manage to have a broad range of shades. I have very sensitive skin and have never had an issue with their products. An added bonus is you get 10% off your first order if you enter your email before checkout. What are you waiting for?!

If you’ve read Instyle or Vogue the past few years, you might have read about this fantastic, non-toxic beauty brand. Their highlighter gained major attention when celebs started using it to get a believable, lit-from-within glow that works in your everyday beauty routine. Because these products are all-natural, they actually make your skin better the more you use them. Their most popular products come in glass pots that can easily be recycled, so you’re minimizing your plastic waste.

All of their makeup is super sheer and light, so if a full face of makeup is your thing, this might not be the brand for you. I do struggle with acne myself, so I’m usually a fan of using heavy foundation, but I’ll admit I have fallen in love with the concealer. My pimples look smaller and less inflamed even when I wash it off. Try their luminizer before anything else, and I can pretty much guarantee you’ll be thanking me in the comments later!

P/Y/T

This brand was founded by women who were serious about using ingredients you can actually recognize and pronounce in their products. Once one of the founders’ daughters became interested in makeup, it opened up the door to creating this non-toxic beauty brand that’s actually affordable. There are no phthalates (how do you even pronounce that?!), or parabens, and it’s hypoallergenic, so my girls with sensitive skin don’t have to worry about irritation.

They’re also wholly cruelty-free, so you can feel good about using any of their stuff. I’m obsessed with their makeup because of how long-lasting it is. One swipe of lipstick lasted me through a very long night of partying. Try it once, and you’ll probably be hooked.

Their eyeshadow palettes just may be the cheapest non-toxic ones out there, and they’re even more incredible than the ones I’ve tried from pricier brands. Their eyeshadows blend super well, and the colors work for a variety of occasions. This brand was founded in part by a cosmetic dermatologist, so you won’t find any irritants in their makeup.

The formula is so good I honestly don’t even feel like I’m wearing makeup when I put it on, and I always get tons of compliments. If you use just a little bit, you’ll get the most gorgeous shimmer on your eyes that lights your whole face up, but it’s easy to build if you’re looking for a more dramatic look.

Juice Beauty

This completely organic, non-toxic brand is known for its fantastic skincare essentials. Their moisturizer just maybe is my holy-grail product. It has SPF in it, dries super quickly, and just makes my skin feel healthier whenever I use it. It’s safe to use for all different skin types, so if you only decide to buy one thing on this list, this should be it.

Whatever your skin concern is, you NEED some of their products in your daily routine. Their makeup is excellent, too, but doesn’t last as long as some of the other products I’ve talked about. Definitely come to this brand for your skincare needs.

Ellis Brooklyn

This should be every girls’ go-to website for all things related to fragrance. Have you ever seen an ingredients list on a bottle of perfume? I know I haven’t. With this non-toxic brand, you can breathe easy knowing you’re not prancing around town steeped in chemicals. It’s a major bonus that the bottles are so pretty you just may want to take an Instagram picture of your beauty counter. There are so many different scents you’ll probably have trouble deciding which one to get.

I will admit that online shopping for a new perfume totally sucks. Ellis Brooklyn has you covered, though. You can try all their fragrances in a set that costs less than $30 from Credo.

Ilia

If you’re looking to go crazy and completely clean out your makeup drawer and replace all your products with non-toxic ones, Ilia will be your one-stop-shop. They’ve got everything from foundation to lipstick to mascara, and it can all be yours for a reasonable price. I love their multi-stick, which can be used on eyes, lips, or cheeks. It’s super moisturizing without being comedogenic.

Usually, I steer clear of any sort of liquid product, but their formula is so light and feels dreamy on your skin. It honestly makes me excited about putting on makeup. You really can’t go wrong with any of their products, and who knows? They just might become your major beauty staples you’ll never want to let go of.
