Some people may think wearing makeup to the beach is unnecessary. However, there are some of us find nothing wrong with a little something to help pull our beach look together. There’s just one problem – you sweat at the beach, making your makeup look greasy. It can be hard to find makeup for the beach that will actually work. Lucky for you, we’ve taken the guesswork out of it for you and complied this list of beach-friendly makeup products that won’t sweat off and make you look greasy, so next time you go to the beach you can look and feel confident knowing your makeup looks just as good as when you put it on.
In hot weather, any thick and creamy foundation is going to smudge and become greasy looking the moment you start to sweat. If you absolutely can’t imagine going to the beach without your favorite full-coverage foundation, you can try mixing it into some sunscreen. However, for the best results, I recommend ditching the heavy, full-coverage concealer on beach days and replace it with Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. It is lightweight, it’ll give you a slight tint for that sun kissed look, and best of all it can be found at any drug store so it is super affordable. You can also put on more than one coat if you want a little extra coverage.
A lot of concealers tend to be on the creamy side, which, like foundation, will become greasy when you sweat. But if you use something like Tarte’s Aquacealer Concealer, you’ll be in the clear. It’s lightweight and has a long lasting power, and also provides an illuminating look while smoothing and covering. And best of all, it won’t look greasy after laying on the beach all day.
To help achieve the matte look, might I recommend Rimmel’s Stay Matte Powder. It will set your foundation and concealer to make it stay on all day at the beach, and it will also mattify any dewiness that may show up on your skin. It also has a long lasting power, so you won’t have to worry about becoming greasy just a few hours after getting to the beach. This is also another product that can be found at any drug store.
Now, obviously eyeliner does not sit on your face like foundation and concealer, so you don’t necessarily have to worry about it becoming greasy. What you do have to worry about, though, is it coming off and creating that raccoon look the second you get your face wet in the water. Simply swapping out your regular eyeliner for any waterproof eyeliner (I recommend Tarte’s Tartiest Clay Paint Liner) to ensure your look will stay put as your frolicking in the waves.
Mascara is something that will also immediately come off once your face touches the water. So swap out your regular mascara for waterproof mascara, such as Shiseido Full-Lash Multi Dimension Mascara. This mascara won’t budge until you wash it off at the end of the day – and even that will take a little elbow grease!
If you want that bronzed look at the beach, you will obviously need bronzer. But not just any bronzer – you will need to use a matte bronzer. Benefit’s Hoola Matte Bronzer is a great choice. Dust it on your cheeks, chin, and forehead for a natural looking tan that is flattering on any skin tone. You could also use it in place of a setting powder to instantly warm your complexion. Unlike some bronzers, it delivers pure matte color and won’t leave behind any shine or shimmer that could make you look greasy at the beach. This is a must-have product for beach days.
If you want to liven up your matte beach look just a little bit, try using Benefits’ GALifornia Blush. It is the perfect pink color that will give you a natural looking blush in your cheeks and the perfect amount of sun kissed glow with its subtle shimmer that will brighten up your matte look. Be sure to try this out on your next beach trip.
With these products, beach makeup is completely achievable. It will look natural, won’t sweat off, and will stay put all day long. So go enjoy the beach while looking and feeling confident!
