The Best Lip Balms For All Skin Types

The best lip balms are designed to give your lips that extra layer of moisture and protect them from dry/ cold weathers, or anything that can dry them out. Some just depend on the lip balms you can find at any drugstore, which can sometimes work. Other times, it can give leave those unnecessary oils on your lips and not give them any moisture at all. If this is your case, here is a list of the best lip balm for all skin types.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve

It’s hard to not like anything rose-scented, especially in a lip balm. Created with cottonseed oil, this formula works for a little bit of everything as it “calms and heals irritation and soothes the sting of minor burns. Easy-to-use and versatile, dab it on chapped lips, elbows, or knees to condition and relieve dryness. It is also an excellent remedy for the treatment of diaper rash.”

Tatcha Camellia Gold Spun Lip Balm

Any good balm should make your lips feel as good as the product looks in the container. And, if a product looks like a block of gold, then that should say enough. This non-irritating and non-sensitizing formula is “rich in camellia oil, which has been prized in Asia for centuries for its superb ability to help seal in moisture. The formula is packed with antioxidants and essential fatty acids to help nourish and protect. Crushed 23-Karat Gold flakes leave a subtle gleam on lips.”

Fresh Sugar Lip Caramel Hydrating Balm

What’s better than a cushiony lip balm that gives 24 hours’ worth of moisture and a smooth natural shine that tastes like a tasty dessert? Nothing! Along with flavors like coconut, lemon, and peach, this “sinfully sweet lip treat instantly hydrates and locks in moisture with a blend of sugar and emollient oils for a supple, plump pout. The rich texture that looks and smells like caramel (but with no sticky residue!) coats dry lips, softening and protecting against dehydration all day long.”

Glossier Balm Dotcom

This next company is known for its products “perfected to be worthy of your bathroom shelf,” both on what’s on the outside and inside the containers. This lip balm is simply formulated with castor oil, beeswax, and lanolin, which they say is “nature’s heavy-duty moisturizers,” to leave your lips looking smooth and hydrated, without the unnecessary shine. You can choose from Original (which doubles as a skin salve) or seven fruity flavors, some of which go on clear like mint and coconut, while the others give a different tint shade while providing moisture for dry, chafed lips.

Taste Beauty Succulent Lip Balm

As with any beauty product, it helps when what contains it is fun-looking. And if a pretty succulent in a flowerpot doesn’t draw an audience, then I don’t know what will. Inside is a velvety lip balm with a crisp scent and flavor (you can choose between watermelon or vanilla) “that comforts and moisturizes dry chapped lips.”

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Especially if you’re really worried about the condition of your lips, rather than using a lip balm that you can take with you on the go, this formula a leave-on lip mask that “soothes and moisturizes for smoother, more supple lips overnight.” An Allure Best of Beauty award winner, this formula is nourished with “vitamin C and antioxidants, its Berry Mix Complex™ offers a nutritiously sweet and fragrant blend of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, and blueberry extracts to indulge the senses. Its exclusive Moisture Wrap™ technology boasts hyaluronic acid and minerals to form a protective film over the lips to lock in moisture and active ingredients. A generous layer of this soothing mask at bedtime helps reduce flakiness so you can wake up to lips that feel refreshed, supple, and soft to the touch.”

Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment

I added this brand on the list a second time because the different products created by them really do work. This one is infused with an anti-aging formula, containing sure to prevent moisture loss, Sea Fennel to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles and define the lip area, and Orange Extract to help protects the lips.

This brand, which happens to be one of my favorites, is probably known for its many peach themed/flavored makeup products, including a variety of eyeshadow palettes and foundation. And, it’s all infused with real peaches to leave your face nourished, as well as leaving a fantastic scent. This balmy formula “hydrates, smooths the look of lips and prevents drying. The moisture fills lines caused by dryness and leaves a natural-looking, satin finish.”
