The Best Jackets To Get For The Upcoming Seasons

Seasons come and go — it seems like 2019 has just started yesterday, but here we are: it’s almost fall and the colder weather is waiting around the corner, waiting for its turn to come and make us all bury ourselves in endless layers.

A necessary part of any person’s wardrobe for these colder seasons are jackets. Some prefer to have one or two that go with everything, in neutral colours that will compliment any outfit and occasion. Others have a multitude of jackets in all colours of the rainbow that will all stand out, differently.

Regardless which category of people you belong to, fashion trends come and go and, occasionally, even the most beloved and trusted of jackets need replacing — so I decided to compile some that will look wonderful and stand out in 2019.

Short, colourful, to the point

Short bright blazers are all the rage this year; the more colourful — the better. All brands, from the loud, boujee names like Gucci, to the more indie, yet still expensive brands like Khaite, to the beloved by the most of us Topshop and Zara are doing their best to follow up on this trend and offer sleek, fitted, colourful blazers to all of us, aspiring or realised fashionistas.

Not only will these jackets go with most oufits — be they with skirts, shorts or trousers — but they will also make you pop out in the crowd wherever you go, be it the office, a date or a dinner.

Jeans, jeans, jeans

Jean jackets have always been and will always stay in. They offer a unique kind of comfortable versatility, where you can pick a jean jacket of any colour and style, yet still stay within your comfort zone.

From a wide selection within the expensive brands like Chanel, to an even more wide choice in the more wallet-friendly and pleasing Asos and similar stores (to a variety of impressive designs in your city’s vintage thrift stores — just a recommendation), denim jackets these days come in all kinds, shapes and colours; the brighter the colour or embroidery you opt for — the more aesthetically pleasing and even, potentially, grungy your outfits will look.

Otherwordly

The hippie aesthetic has been in for a couple of years now. The Coachella, with its pretend-hippie knit clothing definitely helped, but the love for these styles does not stop on summer clothing.

Bohemian styles have been in, too. So have other weird things. All kinds of outerwear that would either make you look like you’re in touch with your soul, nature and heavenly origins, or, on the contrary, like you’re tripping on something are quite the trend lately

That can imply a lot of different things: from the aforementioned knitted designs, to pearlescent shiny coats you’d wear in the rain, to neon bomber jackets you see on most insta baddies’ pages.

The Classic Trench

Trench coats have always been a classic, sleek choice to go for in windy fall weather — but this year they’re making an especially big comeback.

From brands like Max Mara, that are especially known for their wide trench coat selection — trench being one of its signature designs throughout most years of the brand’s existence — to the beloved, abovementioned Zara having introduced a varied line of trench coats in their latest collection, they are a safe jacket choice that will make your look professional and attractive.

Faux fur

Because real fur is a big faux pas these days — deservedly so — faux fur is a much safer choice that still looks fantastic in any day and age, and that will keep you warm against the harsh winter winds of 2019.

The designs this year are a lot to take in, with leopard print suddenly, unexpectedly making its way back into the fashion trends recently; but don’t be mistaken — in case you don’t like animal prints you still have a lot of area to let your imaginations and preferences run wild in. Loud prints and unnaturally dyed furs are it, and you will look bomb and feel comfy and warm — I promise.

Shiny vinyl

This one is simple: (faux) leather with a lacquer finish that will make you reflect both sunlight and neon lights of the night city, and make you look like a beacon,  drawing everyone’s attention to how much of a fashion icon you are is definitely something you would want in your wardrobe.

Not too expensive and long lasting, these jackets will protect you from both wind and humidity, and will play up to 2019’s obsession with plastic, vinyl clothing.

Capes

My absolute favourite trend of the late 2018 and early 2019 winter season that has, in part thanks to my continuous prayers, stayed in this year as well are capes.

Technically jackets yet technically not jackets at the very same time, capes can make you look classy, capes can make you look mysterious, capes can make you look like a real forest nymph — and let’s be honest, don’t most of us want to look like some woodland fairy-like mythical creature from time to time?

A black cape is the most classic choice and the one I would recomment to compliment any kind of look and make it more unique — but in reality there’s a wide variety to choose from, so don’t be shy.
