The Best Healthy Options From Your Favorite Fast Food Chains

As hard as we try to avoid fast food chains, sometimes it’s just not an option, nor does it have to be. These days, with the majority of society being extremely health conscious, most fast food restaurants have added lower calorie, healthier option foods and drinks to their high-calorie menus. That way, we have the option to hit up our favorite fast food joints and grab a quick meal on-the-go or whenever we get a little craving. Here are a few healthy options you can get at some of the best fast food chains.

Starbucks

Ahh, Starbucks, what a blessing you are. If you’re like me, you make a Starbucks run at least once a day and if you’re definitely like me, you worry about the calorie count in our favorite sugary drinks. Well, the good news is, Starbuck provides two sugar-free flavor shots, one being vanilla and the other being caramel.

So whenever we want a little sweetness in our lives, ordering a cold brew coffee with sugar-free flavoring and a bit of milk is our best bet to keep our calorie and carb count low. As for food, stay away from the desserts and grab a reduced fat turkey bacon sandwich or egg white sous vide bites.

Chipotle

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get a wicked craving for Mexican, it’s just so damn delicious and actually pretty reasonable if you get the right items. I’m a huge taco girl so for me, my go-to is a nice, juicy pork taco, I keep it on the healthier side with choosing corn tortillas, rather than flour and skipping out of the cream sauces and cheeses. Chipotle is also great for the customers’ ability to create your own burrito or salad bowl, so you get to be the judge of what healthy or unhealthy food goes into your lunch.

Chick-Fil-A

All hail Chick-Fil-A and thank you to the genius who decided the city of Toronto needed to be blessed with your goodness. Unfortunately, fried chicken isn’t always the best option, even when it tastes so darn good but lucky enough, the Chick-Fil-A gods have blessed us with their healthy option grilled chicken nuggets, grilled market salad, and the delicious grilled chicken cool wrap. Looks like we can have our chicken and eat it too!

Dairy Queen

Sometimes, all you need in life is some ice cream, am I wrong? Dairy Queen is the OG soft serve ice cream and in my personal opinion is never a bad choice, especially when a small cone is 230 calories. Every now and then, 230 calories aren’t such a bad addition to the day, it could be worse, right?

Wendy’s

Have you ever dipped Wendy’s fries into their classic chocolate frosty? Sadly, as good of a childhood memory as that is, it’s not necessarily the picture of health. Next time you stop in at a Wendy’s, grab an apple pecan chicken salad, a grilled chicken wrap, or try their chili.

McDonald’s

I swear every time I hear the word, McDonald’s, all I can think about is the movie Super Size Me and the atrocious effects eating McDonald’s daily can have on a person’s body. However, it’s important to consider that negative effect as a daily intake rather than a once in a blue moon type of thing. McDonald’s doesn’t have to be all that bad, I mean a classic cheeseburger is only 300 calories, that’s not bad, right? If you still don’t feel comfortable ordering a burger, then grab an artisan grilled chicken sandwich, maybe a southwest grilled chicken salad or if you’re stopping in for breakfast, ordering the egg white delight McMuffin if your best bet.

Panera Bread

When I think about Panera Bread, I instantly think about those magical bread bowl soups. Then I get sad thinking about the fact that ordering a while bread loaf full of soup might not be the best idea for a healthy option. But that’s okay, there are so many better options that are healthy for you. Next time you step into a Panera Bread, go with the roast beet, quinoa, and citrus salad or the Fuji apple salad with chicken. Just remember, fast food doesn’t always mean, bad food!
