Fall desserts are best when eaten alone, in the corner of a kitchen, with no self-restraint. These are great treats that you can make with your visiting family members. They make for fun gifts to give to others, so you don’t have to buy candles. Nothing puts more pep in your smile than sugar and butter.
My mother makes these every year. They are absolutely one of the best desserts of the season. You get to the point where you’ve had too many, but you lack the self-control to stop eating them.
These are hard to cut with a knife (without destroying them), so using unflavored floss may be the best route. A great recipe for these happiness rolls can be found here.
While I’m not the biggest fan of pecans, many people find them to die for. The filling is a sugar-based recipe that adds in a heaping scoop of pecans.
Imagine if cheesecake were combined with the flavor-power of pumpkins. That’s it. You’ve got it. It can be made into other items like pumpkin bars and pumpkin cheesecake quickbread. A great recipe for pumpkin cheesecake can be found here.
America’s foundation was built on pies. Apple pie is mega-American. Our flag is stained with red pie filling. The Pennsylvania Amish have things called funeral pies: it’s an amazing factoid that never gets old. Recipes for apple pie are so abundant that you probably have one memorized. I do not. I have pancake recipes memorized.
Apple dumplings are apple-licious. They have a nice amount of apples per square baked-good-inch. I’ve linked a recipe that doesn’t consist of 40 sticks of butter.
Pears are in season and it’s time to take advantage of it. My grandmother’s cobbler is the best I’ve ever had (might be a biased statement). Pear cobbler isn’t as common as apple or blueberry, but you can mix it up a bit with this recipe.
These are more fun to make than they are to eat. I have a family member that requests I grab one of these every time I visit the county fair. These are delicious and hurt my sensitive teeth. A recipe for the caramelly fall of mankind can be found here. Caramel apples also double as tiny, cosplay maces.
Cinnamon, spice, and everything apple. Doughnuts are quite possibly the greatest food known to mankind. This recipe uses concentrated apple cider. Add bacon and you’ve got yourself a real doughnut.
Muffins are a great lunch snack for your busy day. Warm one up and spread butter on it for ephemeral satisfaction that will need to be continually filled until you can’t look at yourself in the mirror. That kind of good.
Whoopie Pies are gobs of glory. Pumpkin flavor permeates through this fluffy treat that’s too tall to bite in one swoop. You’ll find these at county fairs and motherly figures’ kitchens.
Snickerdoodles (or sugar cookies with cinnamon) are a delectable treat and are sharable. Now, whether you want to share them or not is entirely up to you. I would, but maybe you don’t follow the unwritten cookie rules. A good recipe can be found here.
Bread—made from things like zucchini and pumpkin—is all the rage. There’s a reason: it’s good. Putting a piece of this in the microwave and adding butter to this golden nugget of Autumn is the reason some people get up on a Sunday. A very popular recipe for this stuff can be found here.
