If there’s one thing that I never get sick of, it’s a good chick flick. I get inordinately excited when any of the old chick flicks get put on Netflix, and you better believe that I’m watching them all at least three times before the month is up. Here are all the best chick flick movies from the 2000s to re-watch this summer!
First off, Katherine Heigl is amazing in this movie. A scorned sister and forever bridesmaid? The plot draws you in right away, and that’s before James Marsden even comes on screen!
I think the unlikelihood that this would ever happen in real life is what makes this movie so great. Fighting with your best friend over a wedding venue? Would you be Kate Hudson or Anne Hathaway?
There is nothing better than a hot man with an Irish accent… Matthew Goode plays the cynical pub owner who falls for the attractive red-head (Amy Adams). I’d tell you how it ends, but… well, I think we both know!
You may have forgotten about this film with Brittany Snow’s more recent success in movies like Pitch Perfect, but this is one of her more underrated films. Four girls taking down a teenage womanizer? Can you say girl power?
Anne Hathaway appears multiple times on this list for good reason; she is a fantastic actress! This movie is straight up iconic. I don’t know if it’s Meryl Streep’s demeanor, scathing stares or sophisticated sunglasses swoop, but I could watch this movie on repeat!
You really cannot beat three bad ass women kicking the bad guys’ butt. Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu are the best trio of the 2000s!
Besides the fact that Ryan Gosling may be (okay, is) the most attractive Ryan in Hollywood, he and Rachel McAdams have the most adorable love story courtesy of Mr. Sparks!
I LOVE me some Hilary Duff, and this is 100% the best Cinderella takeoff out there. If I could have Chad Michael Murray chasing me to a Jesse McCartney soundtrack, I would absolutely take that chance!
Name a more iconic movie, I’ll wait. On Wednesdays, we wear pink. And, if you’re wearing your hair up today, this is the only time this week you can do that. Because the best chick flick movies don’t have to center around men (even if they feature in it).
Two opposing bets with two career minded people determined to win? Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are the perfect duo to battle it out in the ultimate chick flick standoff!
It would be wrong of me to not mention Mamma Mia with the sequel coming out so soon. Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep are so cute as a mother-daughter team, and I love the drama of the three dads. Plus, ABBA. It’s a no-brainer!
None of the sequels are anywhere close to being as good as the original, and there are few things better than a cheerleading movie. Attitude, drama… yas!
Okay, I may have been an English nerd in high school, so I cannot resist Shakespeare. Amanda Bynes takes on Twelfth Night and, if I do say so, kills it in this rendition of one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies!
This is Reese Witherspoon in her prime, and I love the idea of her taking on the stereotype that blondes can’t be smart. And she nails it.
I don’t think I could identify with anyone more than Sandra Bullock in this movie, being the opposite of what every woman is ‘supposed’ to be. I love it when a kick ass woman is the star of a movie! After all, the best chick flick movies don’t have to be flickish to make us love them.
“A princess, shut UP!” I honestly can’t decide who is better fit for royalty, Michael Moscovitz or Nicholas Devereaux. Either way, Princess Mia remains one of my favorite princesses!
