The Best Brunch In The San Fernando Valley

There is nothing like Sunday morning brunch in the San Fernando Valley. With some delicious options to choose from, there is something for everybody out here. Waffles, pancakes, and french toast, oh my! Gather your friends because here are the best places to get brunch in the San Fernando Valley.

1. More Than Waffles

Located on the second floor of  a plaza center in Encino, this little family-owned  hole in the wall is a hidden gem. Serving from a diverse menu filled with breakfast favorites and unique lunch options, there is something here for everybody. True to its namesake, the waffles are a must when you stop by. Some of my favorites include the Strawberry and Nutella Waffle or the Bacon and Cheddar Waffle if you are feeling a little adventurous.

For the pancakes, be sure you try the Oreo Pancakes which come complete with oreo bits sprinkled over whip cream and chocolate syrup. If you want something fruity, try the Ultima Pancakes. The menu also has extensive lunch options including savory crepes and specialty sandwiches. But if you want a table, you better come early or make a reservation! This place has a line out the door as soon as doors open especially during weekends. The food is worth the wait though! And did I mention the staff rocks!

2. The Nook

Another little charming hole in the wall, this place serves creatively delicious pancakes. While the french toast are good and the waffles are fine, it’s the pancakes that really elevate this place to one of the best brunch places in the Valley. Something in the batter makes this pancakes not only fluffy but also dense in a way that brings out the flavor of the vanilla in the batter. It’s simply delicious! With names like “The Green Machine”, a matcha green tea pancake with mascarpone topping, and “The Blue Monkey, the house blueberry pancakes, you’ll enjoy ordering the best this place has to offer. This is definitely one of the best places to go for brunch in the San Fernando Valley.

3. CiCi’s Cafe

Another place that likes to play around with the dish names, CiCi’s is a Valley favorite. They also have an extensive menu to choose from. From their brunch menu, be sure to try the Cherry Blossom Pancakes and the Huevos con Pollo. If you are gearing up for Halloween, then you might want to try their “Trick or Treat” Pancakes complete with their homemade pumpkin marmalade. You’ll have fun scrolling through all the fun names on the menu. Be sure to drop by early, not only is this place packed but parking can be a bit of a struggle. You won’t mind once you take a bite out of those pancakes!

4. Blu Jam Cafe

With a name inspired by the Jazz and Blues greats like Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillepsie, there is something much more hip about this place. Lined with pictures of great Blues and Jazz musicians, this spot really lives up to its name and we haven’t even gotten to the food. This brunch spot supports it’s local farmer’s markets and uses the freshest ingredients they could find. Must-try dishes include the breakfast potatoes and their signature Crunchy French Toast, french toast rolled in cornflakes, fried, and served with fresh berries and a vanilla bean sauce. Can you say yum!  Make your way here now!

5. Joe’s Cafe

This super small cafe serves some big flavors including Ojan’s Junk which consists of two eggs, a sausage patty, smoked Gouda, sliced tomatoes squished together between two pancakes and serves with house ranch dressing. Delicious! Other favorites include the Biscuits and Gravy and the Stuffed French toast. Come here if you want a homey atmosphere. The friendly staff will make you feel at home!
