The Best Bedspreads For Your Dorm Room

Going shopping for your dorm room can be a fun experience. Whether you’re heading to Target, TJ Maxx or another favorite home goods store, there are always a ton of miscellaneous household items you can grab for your college dorm. Figuring out what theme or color palette you want in your room begins with the bedspread you choose. Since you want the rest of your walls, shelves, and floor decor to match your style, it’s important to pick out a bedspread you won’t get sick of seeing all the time. Here’s some of the best bedspreads to check out for your dorm room!

1. Ruffles Bed Spread

A subtle ruffle fabric as a bedspread is the perfect way to add some sort of edge to a solid color comforter. Though it may not seem like it has a lot of detail- a bedspread that has ruffles on it can add some elegance to your dorm room, especially if you don’t have much art on the walls or other decor.

2. Paisley Print

I have always found paisley bedspreads to be so pretty. If you’re looking to add some depth, go for a softer paisley print, instead of one that entirely covers the bedspread. However if you want something uniform and a little louder, go bold. Up to you!

3. Fruit Pattern

You may go to college where the sun is always out, or maybe you just want to bring some sunshine into your dorm. Trying a fruit pattern bedspread is a great way to bring some vibrant colors and brightness into your room. While the idea of fruit print bedspreads may make it seem like your bed is going to look like a giant strawberry – there are actually plenty of stylish, fruit filled bedspreads you can find out there. You can find fruit bedspreads at a ton of stores too, including the store Urban Outfitters – which carries quite the variety of comforters, quilts and duvet covers!

4. Marble Print

We’ve seen marble countertops, phone cases, marble painted nails, etc. And, my favorite bedspread of all is definitely marble print. You can’t really go wrong pairing the classic white and black marble bedspread with your room. Black and white marble print is a great idea for a bedspread, and can pair with pretty much any pillows and throw blankets that go with your taste. Even if the rest of your decor clashes, your bedspread will offset it all.

5. Neutral Stripes

While some striped bedspreads may seem a little loud or overpowering for the rest of your dorm decor – neutral stripes can make a subtle impact on how your room looks. Gray, white, blue, black, are examples are stripes that would make a nice bedspread, and also just be an add on to having a plain color comforter. You can add pillows with quotes on them, faux fur pillows, or knit throws to add some dimension.

6. Solid Color

Sometimes you just want to keep it simple, and your room can represent that feeling too. Having a solid color bedspread may seem boring, but it also can be chic when paired with the right pillows, blankets, and other room decor. Adding some fun throw pillows with prints can change the look of a solid color bedspread in a second. It immediately takes away from it not having much detail, but also gives you the chance to change out your pillows whenever you want to and they will always find a way to match the bedspread.

7. Floral

Just like having flowers in a vase on your desk, having a floral bedspread can always add a kind of softness to your room. There are so many different ways of utilizing a floral bedspread. This means it does not always have to be big, pink flowers that give the look like they were painted on a white bedspread. There are tons of ways to get a floral print look while keeping it on the more simple side – such as more spread out flowers along the bedspread, light colored floral prints, or smaller flowers in general.

8. Reversible

For those of us who love to redecorate and switch up our rooms once in a while – reversible bedspreads are perfect for that reason. Finding a comforter that you love on both sides of the fabric can help you make a change in your dorm room without doing much. You can also find different ways to add detail to each side of the comforter, like trying out new pillows depending on each side of the comforter you want to show.

9. Plaid

While plaid may not be for everyone’s room, there are ways to make plaid bedspreads look preppy and chic. Not all plaid bedspreads have to be dark colors like the reds and greens you would see in a flannel shirt. And no, you do not have to make your room look like a cabin on the inside to enjoy having a plaid bedspread in your dorm room. You can incorporate lighter grays or blues into your room with a plaid fabric that has just two colors, and can be matched with any decor and furniture that you want in your dorm.

10. Quilt

I have always found that quilts are just as cozy as comforters to have as a bedspread. With extra blankets, and pillows for decor and comfort, quilts can be just as cozy even though they are lighter than comforters. Quilts also come in styles like striped, floral, paisley, etc. While quilts are always around in various prints, they also come in vibrant colors or darker colors, just like any comforter would.
