During this time we may end up feeling very closed off from the people we love and alone, but you don’t have to. Here are some of the best apps for staying in touch while social distancing.

For anyone that has an apple product, I must app to try out is facetime, which if any of you don’t know is an video messaging app that allows you to talk to and connect with your friends. I love to use this app to connect with my friends from school, especially now that I wont be able to see them for quite some time. A new feature than facetime has is that it now allows there for there to be multiple people on the chat, not just two. This makes it perfect to invite members of your group chat all onto one video call. I use facetime to stay connected with all of my friends from school and it is the perfect app to use if you want to stay connected as well. Something that my friends and I do to stay connected is that we like to play uno on the imessage games and then we like to all join in on facetime. This is a great way to talk to your friends and have a fun little game night.

Houseparty

Houseparty is another video messaging app that comes in real handy to keep you connected while you are stuck indoors. This app allows up to four people to talk via video message. This was an app that I really liked to use when I first went away for school, it helped me stay connected with my siblings while I was away. This app is very simple to use, it lets you see if someone is online and if they aren’t you can ring then so they will get online. This app is a fun and easy way to stay connected to friends or family that you are missing while you are inside.

Zoom

Zoom is yet another video messaging app that has become very popular over these few weeks inside. You may recognize this app mainly because it is most likely what you are using to stay connected with your classes for your online classes. Other than using it for your classes zoom is a great way to stay connected with friends and family. Something that is great about it is that you can have just about as many people as you want at a time. A lot of celebrities have been using zoom as well to stay connected with fans and try to spread healthy living. Zoom offers fun features such as changing the background of your screen to just about everything. Also, zoom is very easy to use, allowing you to send a link or code to anyone you want to join, giving them access to the chat. Through zoom, you can easily stay connected with your friends, family, professors, and even celebrities all from the safety from your home.

I would think that many of you are familiar with the video messaging app, skype. This app is yet another great messaging app that will keep you connected with those you are unable to see at this time. Skype has been something that I have used to communicate with professors during the online classes. Also, for those in your life that do not have iphones, skype is a great app to use, considering that you would be unable to use facetime. Overall, skype is very easy to use and a great way to connect with your loved ones during this time!

Rave-Watch Together

Now, enough of video chatting apps, Rave-Watch Together is a fun app that allows you to stay connected with your friends while social distancing through Netflix. With this app you can watch Netflix with someone else at the same time, this app allows you to sync your movie or show watching experience with anothers. With this app it will almost be like they are there with you watching! You can even pause the video and the others Netflix will end up pausing as well. Through this app you can have a fun viewing experience with another, keeping you guys connected even when you cant get together!

I feel like almost everyone is familiar with the famous app that is Snapchat. Overall, Snapchat is great app for you to stay connected with your friends. You can make group chats with your groups of friends and even video chat as well. I think that starting streaks is a great way to make sure that you are staying in contact with your friends while social distancing and its also fun to see how long you can hold a streak on it as well. snapchat is definitely something that I use everyday so it is a fun and easy way to stay connected with your friends.

Smule-The Social Singing App

Smule looks like it is a very fun app, I will say I have never used it before, but I will be checking it out. With Smule you can make videos of you and someone else doing karoke. So if you love to sing or just belting it out over some karoke then I recommend trying this app out. You can even recorder yourself doing karaoke and then sent it to your other friends as well! Smule is a fun way for you and your friends to hang out online. This app is a great and easy way for everyone to stay connected!

Groupme has been an app used for a lot of college clubs and has even been used for my dorm floor to keep us all connected. Now, groupme can be a great way to keep you connected with members of your clubs from school and even people on your dorm floor that you miss. You can also use this app to stay connected with friends as well. groupme is mainly just a direct messaging app that always you to have private messaging conversations as well as group conversations. Using groupme to communicate with friends, family, and even school clubs is a great way to keep up with event at school and stay connected with the people who matter most to you.
