The Best Albums For Your Zodiac Sign

Artists compete to get their best albums out consistently year after year. Some are great but lacking and some don’t make the cut at all. We’ve put together the twelve best albums—matched to your zodiac—to blast next time you need a mood booster, or sedative.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Camila by Camila Cabello (2018) is one of the best albums and also the breakout album by the former Fifth Harmony singer. After starting her career in the girl group, the Cuban born singer quickly became known as the lead, and developed a loyal following. After some controversy when she broke away from the other four singers, Camila has continued her popular music career with singles such as “Havana” and “Consequences”. Her debut album sold over 900,000 copies and was nominated for Album of The Year (Pop) at the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

After developing a signature speech pattern and gaining fame online, the New York performer has quickly risen to the top of the charts with her debut album, Invasion of Privacy (2018). Of course, I’m speaking of Cardi B, who had one of the best albums of the year. Known for her brash humour and personality; Cardi B has risen highly in every rap chart, quickly becoming a top selling female artist. When not rapping popular songs, “Bodak Yellow” or “I Like It”, she is having well-publicised feuds with Nicki Minaj, another successful female rapper.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Known for her similar style to Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande released her album Sweetener(2018) during her quick relationship with actor and comedian, Pete Davidson—even going so far as to name a song after him. Unfortunately, the relationship did not last long, but the music lives forever. The album is Grande’s fifth and features such popular songs as “God Is a Woman” and “Breathin’”.

Any song off the album suits perfectly to a morning yoga session … or just performing the Yoga Nidra pose with headphones in works as well.

Cancer (July 21 – June 22)

The iconic singer, Mariah Carey is back again with another of her best albums—her fifteenth studio album. Caution(2018) features Mariah’s popular vocal range and RnB sound. The album received 51,000 sales, and features other acts like Ty Dolla Sign and Slick Rick. Featuring the song “GTFO”, Mariah is currently on her Caution World Tour for the album.

Listen to the popular jam “A No No” when getting over a breakup, or even just for something to sing in the shower.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

American Beauty/American Psycho(2015) is the sixth album of cult-acclaimed, though lyrically cryptic pop-punk band, Fall Out Boy. The album features the groups popular style and interesting take on song writing. With popular tracks such as “Uma Thurman”—which takes sample of The Munsters (1964-1966) theme song and the popular dance scene in Pulp Fiction(1994)—the band heavily references pop culture. Play any of the album’s songs when out and about to make your day more interesting, or jam in your room for a teenage-rebellion vibe. This is one of the best albums by the Illinois band.

Virgo (August 25 – September 22)

Rapper, Drake has been dominating the charts since his debut as a musician (and his separation from his past as an actor). His fifth album Scorpion (2018) uses his regular trait of rehashing his life circumstances and love interests. The two-disc album features popular songs, “In My Feelings” and “God’s Plan”, perfect for summer or to listen to on the way to work.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Known for her pop anthems and happy, sweet romance lyrics, Taylor Swift bounced back from controversy and heartbreak with her sixth album, Reputation(2018). Calling out those who had wronged her, ex-partners, and current loves, Swift threw-out her nice-girl image for a hardened persona. The album heavily referenced recent backlash she had faced, including accusing Kanye West of “[taking] credit of [her] accomplishments” and having their private phone call leaked online by Kim Kardashian. Listen to this album when you’re in an angry mood, or just looking for a song to lift those weights to—no one has to know you’re listening to Taylor Swift.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 22)

Filled with breakup anthems, moody tones, and a serious case of the “sads”, Lorde’s second album is fittingly called Melodrama (2017). The breakout single of the album is “Green Light”, perfect for an uplifting breakup song, filled with pop vibes and sombre lyrics. This album is perfect for morning commutes, lazy Saturdays, or when your normal breakup anthems are too mad/sad/angry. Dance to this album and mask your pain.

Sagittarius (November 23 – December 21)

In the Lonely Hour (2014) is the debut album by British singer, Sam Smith. Smith broke into the music industry with his ability to hit those high notes that make us both cringe and swoon. The album is filled with Smith’s popular singles, the catchy “Money on My Mind”, the impending-breakup song “Stay with Me”, and the other impending breakup song “I’m Not the Only One”. Smith’s wide vocal range and sad lyrics make this a great, dark album—play it late at night for ultimate Smith vibes.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Born to Die (2012) is the insanely popular album by indie-luxe singer, Lana Del Rey. When she’s not groaning into a microphone, Lana is modelling for Gucci alongside Jared Leto, and inspiring everyone to date a tattooed rock-star who will ultimately break your heart. With songs like “Born to Die”, “Blue Jeans”, and “Summertime Sadness” getting your heart broken has never sounded so good. Dress like a Coachella-attendee and sing your heart out to one of the twelve popular songs making up this gorgeous disc.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Life gave Beyoncé a lemon in Jay-Z, so she made Lemonade(2016).

After years of apparent neglect by her husband, the Texas born singer aired her grievances on her sixth album. The album opens with the personal, sad ballad “Pray You Catch Me” and ends with the uplifting women’s empowerment anthem, “Formation”. With features from popular artists The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé puts an extremely personal touch onto each of her songs, and politically expresses herself on “Freedom” featuring Lamar.

Play “Freedom” or “Sorry” when exercising, and stick to “Daddy Lessons” or “Hold Up” for your next karaoke night.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

Sia (last name, Furler) is an Australia singer/songwriter who has written for acts Rihanna, Camila Cabello, and Beyoncé. Her seventh album, This is Acting(2016) features her iconic vocals and note runs. One of the album covers features Maddie Ziegler of Dance Moms (2011- ) fame, the face and dancer in a number of Sia’s music videos. The album features the popular and catchy song, “Cheap Thills” as well as the darker “Bird Set Free”. Sia is noticeable for consistently being credited as a writer for every song on her album.
