The Best 90s TV Shows You Should Stream Today

Everything 90s is coming back, from fashion to pop culture references like TV shows. If you want to get your daily dose of fun 90s TV, check out these shows!

1. Boy Meets World

This first 90s TV show has such a special place in my heart. I have so many memories of watching this in the mornings before heading off to school with my older sister, learning lessons, and laughing at whatever trouble this cast of characters got themselves into. Boy Meets World is such a classic 90s sitcom that appeared on television from 1993 until the turn of the decade in 2000. I still think about all the time. If you have never seen it, the show follows Corey Matthews, his family, and friends as they navigate school, work, romance, and friendships. As an audience, we got to grow up as Corey and his friends did, being taught lessons by Mr. Feeny along the way with them. The comedy was golden, like the quote pictured below from a scene between Corey and his hilarious, unconventional brother Eric. The lessons that this show taught were unlike any other in a show I have seen since. The adults in this show cared so much about the kids and invested so much time into relationships with them. The goal in doing so was to nurture these kids into becoming kind, intelligent young people and at the same time, they were also molding the audience. If you need a good laugh, but also the occasional tug on the heartstrings, definitely stream Boy Meets World on Disney Plus!

2. Moesha

This next show is a bit of a newer discovery on my end. I do vaguely remember watching this as a little girl but forgot all the major storyline elements. Moesha is a 90s TV show that ran from 1996 until 2001 and stars Brandy Norwood who became famous for her role as Cinderella in the 1997 TV film. This show has very similar themes to Boy Meets World such as family, growing up, and finding yourself. What was especially cool about this growing up was that it was one of the only shows on at the time that had a cast made up of mostly African American actors. This sitcom follows Moesha, as one may suspect from the name of the show, as well as her father, stepmother, little brother, and her group of high school friends. Similar to other sitcoms, Moesha was always getting herself into awkward situations and trouble with her parents, however, there was always a happy ending at the conclusion of the thirty-minute episode. This show allowed the audience to learn from Moesha and her friends’ mistakes and promised us that everything would be okay in the end. It is so fun to go back and watch this now, not only for the humor and the good-natured life lessons but also for the killer fashion throughout the six seasons! If you are looking for a fabulous 90s sitcom with great core values and a superior sense of humor, go stream Moesha on Netflix!

3. Buffy The Vampire Slayer

For all the fans of supernatural shows such as The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural, I highly recommend that you stream Buffy The Vampire Slayer on Hulu. This 90s TV show ran from 1997 until 2003, has impeccable styling, fabulous acting by Sarah Michelle Gellar, romance, and of course, vampires. The show follows Buffy, played by the lovely Sarah Michelle Gellar, and her group of friends as they hunt down vampires and try to protect their town from all things evil. There are seven full seasons for you to binge and if you absolutely fall in love with it, you can also binge the spin-off tv show Angel which follows one of the characters from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Honestly, this show was so ahead of its time with the whole concept, the fashion is absolutely iconic, and it just gives off all of the nostalgic 90s teen vibes. This show acts as a great form of escapism from reality and is such an action-packed show.  If you are looking for something that is a little edgy, angsty, and a bit on the spooky side, then you should totally give this show a try!

4.  Freaks And Geeks

The last 90s TV show that I have to recommend for you to stream as soon as possible, is one of my absolute favorites, Freaks And Geeks. This show only had one season, which is such a travesty, and debuted in 1999. The cast is honestly so iconic, you have Linda Cardellini, Seth Rogan, James Franco, Busy Phillips, John Francis Daley, and the list just keeps going. If you love that 90s grunge aesthetic, you need to watch this TV show, it makes my 90s heart so happy. We follow Linda Cardellini’s character, Lindsay Weir, who is a goody-two-shoes type of girl who starts hanging out with a group of burnouts. She goes through a lot of character growth and her style does a complete switch. The show also follows Lindsay’s younger brother, Sam Weir, as he experiences his freshman year of high school. I loved this show because we got to follow two different characters in very different parts of their lives. Lindsay is starting to really grow up and find herself as an upperclassman, while her little brother Sam is going through the transition from middle school to high school and becoming a true teenager. The parents are less of a focal point in this show, as we spend most of the time following Lindsay and Sam navigate their high school life which I really enjoy. If you are a fan of films like The Perks of Being A Wallflower and 10 Things I Hate About You, then I highly recommend that you stream this show on Netflix!

I absolutely love all of these 90s TV shows and the nostalgic feeling that they give off! What are your favorite 90s TV shows? Let us know in the comments!
