Taking the SATs can seem pretty scary. You have all of the practice tests and maybe you’re even taking a prep course, but sometimes it is helpful to be reminded that you are in the same boat as tons of other high school students. A good way to start your SAT prep and college application process is to look at some statistics. Here are the average SAT scores for colleges across the country.
1. UMass Amherst
Based on the new scale, the average SAT score at UMass is 1290 out of 1600. Based on the older scale, the average score is 1226 out of 2400. The acceptance rate at UMass is 58%.
2. New York University
On the new scale, the average SAT score at NYU is 1410. On the old scaled, the average score is 2016. The acceptance rate at NYU is 35%.
3. University of Delaware
On the new scale, the average SAT score at UD is 1290. On the old scale, the average SAT score is 1810. The acceptance rate at the University of Delaware is 63%.
4. University of South Carolina
Based on the new scale, the average SAT score is 1450. On the old scale, the average SAT score is 2085. The acceptance rate at the University of South Carolina is 18%.
5. University of Alabama
On the new scale, the average SAT score at the University of Alabama is 1190. On the old scale, the average score is 1652. The acceptance rate is 54%.
6. University of Miami
On the new scale, the average SAT score is 1360. On the old scale, the average SAT score is 1925. The acceptance rate at the University of Miami is 38%.
7. University of Texas at Austin
On the new scale, the average SAT score is 1350. On the new scale, the average score is 1904. The acceptance rate at UT Austin is 40%.
8. Northwestern
On the new scale, the average SAT score is 1510. On the old scale, the average SAT score is 2220. The acceptance rate at Northwestern is 13%.
9. University of Wisconsin Madison
On the new scale, the average SAT score is 1370. On the old scale, the average SAT score is 1931. The acceptance rate at the University of Wisconsin Madison is 49%.
10. Penn State
On the new scale, the average score is 1270. On the old scale, the average SAT score is 1785. The average acceptance rate at Penn State is 51%.
11. University of Michigan
On the new scale, the average score is 1450. On the old scale, the average score is 2080. The acceptance rate at the University of Michigan is 26%.
12. UCLA
On the new scale, the average SAT score is 1370. On the old scale, the average SAT score is 1947. The acceptance rate at UCLA is 17%.
13. San Diego State University
On the new scale, the average score is 1190. On the old scale, the average SAT score is 1653. The acceptance rate at San Diego State University is 34%.
14. University of Oregon
On the new scale, the average score is 1190. On the old scale, the average SAT score is 1658. The acceptance rate at the University of Oregon is 74%.
15. Arizona State University
On the new scale, the average SAT score is 1210. On the old scale, the average SAT scale is 1145. The acceptance rate at Arizona State University is 83%.
