The Screen Actors Guild Awards, commonly known as SAG Awards, are a chance to root for our favorite actors and see them succeed in their job; yet, there’s something more to them: they are a breathtaking fashion parade. Picture-perfect and camera-ready, celebrities of the big and small screen were ready to strike a pose showing off the latest works of art in terms of haute couture clothing. Here’s our editorial pick of the absolute best looks from the SAG Awards!
There is a very high chance that wearing Dior will make anyone look stunning, regardless of their social status and appearance, but Lady Gaga somehow manages to go beyond this cliché. Her bold personality and charming character are enhanced by the magnificent draped dress, which transforms her into an angelic-like figure with a punk soul – thank you very much for that, burgundy lipstick.
Speaking of angels, Michelle Yeoh sets herself apart from her colleagues opting for an Elie Saab Couture dress. Feathers and the Charleston look are huge trends of 2019, a year that seems to be nostalgic the “Great Gatsby-themed” 1920s. Crazy Rich Asians appears to be an attempt to bring the 20s fever back, and Michelle Yeoh embodies this idea – we love it! Definitely one of the best looks from the SAG Awards.
You can’t disappoint the audience if you’re wearing Ralph & Russo and Bulgari jewelry. Feathers strike again and allow Danai Gurira to officially enter the chart of the best looks from the SAG Awards. The simple yet sinuous line of the dress’ lower half opposed to the fluffy upper-part creates an interesting contrast between elegance and extravagance. And the result is fabulous.
Double Christian, double awe. At this year’s SAG Awards, Dave Franco grabs the attention of photographers and fashion enthusiasts flaunting a Christian Dior suit paired with Christian Louboutin shoes. And he does so by choosing a classy path: a blue suit with black details and black vinyl shoes. If you thought black and blue couldn’t go together, Franco is here to tell you that you were wrong.
Just one word: yes. Margot Robbie in Chanel is one of the highlights of the night, as she’s wearing a dress straight out of the Pre-Fall 2019 Chanel runway. The golden details of this work of art enhance the features of the human work of art that Robbie is. A subtle mermaid cut gives the finishing touch to the dress by adding some pleasing movement to the fabric. Chanel can’t disappoint you, that’s for sure.
Bravo to Dior Haute Couture, whose dress gently wraps Rachel Brosnan in a soft, dim, light-blue cloud made of lace. Completed by Jimmy Choo heels and Irene Neuwirth jewelry, Brosnahan’s look can only be described as entirely graceful.
Less is best, and Rami Malek knows it: his double-breasted Christian Dior suit is nothing but amazing in all of its simpleness – of both color and design. Sometimes, class is characterized by the bare essentials, and nothing more. Thanks to his outfit, Rami Malek not only becomes part of the best-dressed men, but also he gains a spot in the overall “Best Looks from the SAG Awards”.
Yara Shahidi in Fendi Couture is like a dream come true. Pastels undoubtedly belong to the list of the hottest trends of 2019, but if pastel colors don’t convince you yet, just take a look at Shahidi’s dress, and you will change your mind: it is a soft-pink jumpsuit with a tulle skirt and train; tiny gems enrich both the tulle and the jumpsuit, making both Shahidi and the dress really glow. She really doesn’t even need to be under the limelight to shine.
The star of Crazy Rich Asians looks stunning in Oscar de la Renta as she attends the SAR Awards. The revisited, almost cartoon-like, version of pink feathers proposed by the Dominican designer allow Gemma Chan to be part of the best looks from the SAG Awardas list. She’s the pink swan of the night.
Orange is the new black, but not this time. Samira Wiley in an amazing, draped, black Georges Chakra dress is mesmerizing. Combined with a Tadashi Shoji clutch and AS29 jewelry, Wiley’s look for the 2019 SAG Awards is among our favorites.
Last but not least is Lucy Boynton in Erdem and Harry Winston jewelry – possibly our favorite look of the night. With her black-on-black polka dot & flowery dress, she looks like she has just walked out of a Botticelli painting. With black, red and pink on her fair skin, she definitely can be described as a rock ‘n’ roll goddess.
