You’re a pretty busy person, so you receive a huge number of texts every day. You’ve been ignoring the majority of them for a long time since they don’t seem to be that urgent. However, this habit may end up being more of a hindrance than a help. What if something important were to come up, but you decided not to read the message? Granted, these situations do not happen often, but you should still be prepared for them, just in case. If you’re unsure which texts you should pay the most attention to, some examples have been provided below.
As you’re scrolling through your unread list of texts, you come across this one from your son. Becoming immediately concerned for his well-being, you text back asking what happened. Apparently, he was raking in the woods behind the house when he accidentally slammed the hand holding the top of the rake into a tree. Ordinarily, you’d think that this wouldn’t case any bleeding, but your son explains that he was raking really quickly, and that the force of the collision was strong enough to cut him.
Out of all the texts you could ever receive, this is one of the worst imaginable. Finding out that there’s a stranger in your house when you’re not there, and that the person texting you is also in the house, is incredibly scary. You quickly call the person there, but they don’t respond. Panicking now, you start to dial 911. After hurriedly explaining to the police what is happening, you text the person in the house to stay calm and keep hidden. Thankfully, your 8 year old daughter, who’s the one you’ve been communicating with, is smart and has hidden themselves in the cupboard under the bathroom sink.
You get a lot of texts with good news, so you never read those, but you hardly ever get any stating clearly that something is wrong. Of course you want to know what the issue is, so you text back when you see this in your unread texts. Your coworker, Jerry, just messaged you to let you know that the new employee was given your office to work in. You can’t believe this, so you book an immediate flight home from Florida (where you were enjoying your vacation) to set things straight. When you get back, you find that there isn’t a new employee at all, and that Jerry was simply messing with you.
Uh-oh, that doesn’t sound too good, does it? You receive this text when watching the Saturday football game and it instantly spoils the good mood you were in. Not many texts are able to accomplish that. This message comes from Jerry (yes, the one that ruined your vacation), so you’re inclined not to believe him, but you might as well check with your boss just in case. It turns out that Jerry wasn’t lying, and that some employees are being let go. However, the boss assures you that you aren’t among them, and this news is able to bring back your high spirits.
Frankly, you expected more texts like this, but this is actually the first one you’ve received concerning it. The reason why the police are asking questions is because you might have done something which the law disagreed with, but you thought was quite all right. In order to not have a conversation with the police that will be sure to make them feel ridiculous for wanting to arrest you, you’re at the airport waiting to get on a flight to an undisclosed location. If you just exit the public eye for a while, you’re sure that this…misunderstanding…will blow over.
A very serious question, and one of the few texts that you’ll answer immediately. Currently, you’re thinking pepperoni, but you just had a pizza with that recently, so you’re not sure. You’ve also wanted to try just a plain cheese pizza, but you aren’t really in the mood for that, you know? Picking a pizza topping takes a lot of thought, since it says a lot about you. Do you like anchovies as a topping? Since that’s not a common thing to have on pizza, people may look at you weird and not want to hang out with you anymore.
You like this system of texts that the dental office sends out. It serves to remind you of your upcoming appointment, which can be hard to forget sometimes in your incredibly busy life. Speaking of the dental office, you don’t understand why people hate going there. All they ever do is just look at your mouth for 30 minutes, give you a baggie with a new toothbrush and toothpaste, and then let you go. Perhaps the fear that most people have is being examined under a bright light like a dissected animal. If so, then that doesn’t bother you in the slightest.
You’ve loved Christmas ever since you can remember. Being around your family, while a benefit of the season, is not the main reason you love it. No, the biggest draw of Christmas, to you, are the many gifts you receive every year, so texts like this make you extremely happy and excited. Now, what should you ask for? You assume that whatever you put in this text, you’ll get, so you need to think long and hard about what you want most. There’s also the limitation to 2 or 3 answers that the person who texted you is looking for, so you need to keep that in mind while you consider your answer.
Another in the long list of texts from Jerry. You’re debating with yourself whether you should even answer him since you’re fairly sure that you parked your car in a safe location. Why would anyone need that space by the front of the office anyway? Yeah, it says ‘For Emergencies Only’, but there hasn’t been one of those in a long time, so you thought it was safe to park there. Well, whatever, you’re heading downstairs anyway, so you might as well see if Jerry was telling the truth or not. Turns out that he was half-right. The tow-truck was called to move your car to make room for the ambulance, but they only moved it a little ways away, so it’s fine. The same can’t be said of your boss, though…
What? Your dog is gone? That doesn’t make any sense. You know that you put Doog (that’s your dog’s name), in the house so, unless someone broke in and stole him, this person is wrong. You text them back and ask if they’ll go check out the house and see it if looks like it got broken into, which they agree to do. After about ten minutes, you hear back from your neighbor that they were mistaken. When looking through your house, they heard the door open and went to see who it was. It was Doog! He must’ve opened the door with his paws, went for a little walk, and then came back home.
