10 Tasty Chicken Dishes To Spice Up Mealtimes

Chicken dishes make some of the most delicious meals, but sometimes we get bored of eating the same thing all the time. Here are ten tasty chicken dishes to spice up your mealtimes!

1. Chicken Jambalaya

This Cajun rice pot recipe will give you a flavoursome and filling meal! The recipe is simply and should take no more than an hour from start to finish. Get some juicy chicken breasts, thinly sliced red pepper, crushed garlic cloves, and long grain rice. You could even throw in some chorizo sausage for added spice! Brown your chicken first, then cook your vegetables for five minutes. Stir in the chicken and rice and add some tinned tomatos. Simmer for around 25 minutes until the rice is cooked through.

2. Teriyaki Chicken

From Cajun chicken to a Japanese-inspired dish. Taking only twenty minutes to cook, this recipe is perfect for when you are in a rush or just desperate for your dinner. You will need chicken thighs, garlic cloves, ginger, honey, soy sauce, and sticky rice. You might also like to get some spring onions and bok choi for serving. Fry the chicken in oil for 7 minutes, then add the garlic and ginger and fry for another 2 minutes. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and vinger before boiling in 100ml of water and cooking for 5 minutes until the chicken is coated in a thick, sticky sauce. Place on a plate with your steamed bok choi and spring onions and enjoy!

3. Chicken Provençal 

This hearty recipe will take a few hours to marinate, so it is definitely not one of the chicken dishes to make if you are in need of a quick meal – but if you have the time, this dish is totally worth it. To make this dish, you will need around 2 1/2 kilograms of chicken – so you might want to visit the butcher at your local supermarket. First, place the chicken into a large bowl and add garlic, wine, oil, and thyme before seasoning with salt. Chill overnight in the fridge. The next day, char some plum tomatos in the grill and then fry the chicken until it has a golden cripsy batter. Add the tomatoes and simmer. Once that is done, heat in the oven for an hour. Let it settle for 15 minutes and then serve!

4. Salina Chicken

This dish takes its inspiration from the flavours of the island of Salina. You will need aubergines, garlic cloves, red chillies, cinnamon, baby capers, red onion, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts, lemons, and basil. It is a very flavoursome dish! To create the dish, you will first want to shallow fry your chicken. You should then stir fry your vegetables and other ingredients. Cook them for fifteen minutes. Put everything into a tin and cook for 45 minutes on the bottom shelf of the oven. This delicious dish can be served with rice or a fragrant couscous.

5. Chicken Pot Pie

If you hail from the UK, chicken pot pie might be one of those chicken dishes you have only ever heard about in American sitcoms – but it time it made its way across the pond! Taking only half an hour to make, it makes a perfect quick dinner. All you need for this is some chicken thighs, two onions, mushrooms, some thyme, and a block of puff pastry. Cook two-thirds of the thighs in the oven for 6 minutes with some onions. Toast the mushrooms for 4 minutes in a pan. Roll out the pastry so it is bigger than the pan, then place it over the filling and push it into the edges. Bake on the bottom shelf of the oven for fifteen minutes.

6. Stuffed Jollof Chicken

If you are looking for a way to make your Sunday roast more interesting, look no further than this African-inspired dish. To create the jollof stuffing, you will need groundnut oil, sweet potato, unsalted butter, an onion, long grain white rice, garlic cloves, ginger, plum tomatos, and a line. Make it by first heating the butter in a saucepan, adding the onion and cooking until soft. Add the rice and stir for a minute before adding water and bringing to the boil. Boil until the surface of the rice looks ‘pitted’, then turn the heat down very low and simmer. Transfer the mix to a bowl and leave it to cool. Heat the groundnut oil in a frying pan and cook the sweet potato. Add garlic and ginger and cook for another 2 mins, before adding the tomatoes and seasoning the dish. Cook until the vegetables are soft and tender then leave to cool. Mix this half of the stuffing in with the half you made earlier. Season the chicken inside, then spoon the rice stuffing right down into the cavity then roast for an hour and twenty minutes.

7. Chicken Souvlaki

This Greek-style recipe makes one of the most tender and juicy chicken dishes. It will take at least three hours to marinate, so do not expect this to be a quick-fix. For this, you will need to create a marinade and tzatziki. For the marinade, you will need olive oil, oregano, mint, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, lemon, and garlic cloves. It is a dish filled with spice! For the tzatziki, you need cucumber, Greek yoghurt, as well as more mint, lemon and garlic cloves. From there, simply marinade the chicken in the ingredients for three hours, then chop and mix the tzatziki ingredients and chill. Once the chicken is marinating, grill it on metal skewers. Once it is cooked, remove the chicken from the skewers and serve in a wrap with vegetables and the tzatziki.

8. Korean Fried Chicken

You might be used to eating Kentucky fried chicken, but what about Korean fried chicken dishes? This recipe includes a delicious sauce and a kimchi-style slaw. For the sauce, you will need brown sugar, Korean gochujang, soy sauce, garlic cloves, and sesame oil. To create it, all you need to do is put the ingredients in a pan and simmer the mixture until it becomes a syrup. For the slaw, you will need white cabbage, shredded mooli, caster sugar, garlic cloves, mayonnaise, spring onions, and just a pinch of chilli powder for flavour. Miz them all together to create the slaw. The chicken is simple. Toss some chicken thighs in cornflour and fry in a pan for 5 minutes each. Allow them to cool for 2 minutes then fry them again until they are crisp.

9. Chicken Parmigiana

Everyone loves a bit of parmesan, and so you will love this recipe! Get two chicken breasts half them. Dip in two beaten eggs, breadcrumbs, and grated parmesan. Leave to chill in the fridge. Create a sauce using olive oil, two garlic cloves, and half a jar of passata, with a sprinkle of caster sugar and oregano for flavour. Simmer for 5-10 minutes. Grill the chicken on high for five minutes each side. Pour the sauce on and serve!

10. Bang Bang Chicken

Taking only half an hour in total, bang bang chicken with noodles makes a fantastic quick meal. Grab some chicken breast, courgettes, carrots, sping onions, beansprouts, soya beans, smooth peanut butter, as well as a range of sauces such as you and sweet chilli. Simmer the chicken for 10 minutes. Use a julienne peeler to turn the courgettes and carrots into curly noodles. Pour them into a bowl and mix in spring onions, beansprouts and soya beans. Use another bowl to mix the peanut butter and soy sauce together before whisking in the chilli sauce. Shred the chicken, mix in the vegetables and toss everything.
