Sustainable products are some of my favourite things out there right now. Why waste money on products that are harming our planet even more when there are all kinds of eco-friendly alternatives out there? Here’s 10 sustainable products that you definitely need to try.
All of us use plates, bowls, cutlery, and other kitchenware on an everyday basis. When something breaks, our normal reaction is to just throw it out. However, these broken plates and such will end up in a dump, taking forever to decompose. Leafware makes sustainable products that are 100% compostable and will definitely help out your ecological footprint in the best possible way.
Thankfully, a lot of people have been ditching the regular plastic straws for these sustainable products. The excess of plastic used by humans is one of the top issues for our environment right now, and while this may not be the biggest step in eliminating it, it’s definitely a giant leap in the right direction. You can get a set of 4 straws for $10, so there’s really no excuse not to be using them.
Ziploc bags are some of the biggest culprits out there for plastic waste. Thankfully, there are sustainable products in existence that help to thwart this issue. These reusable food storage bags are very reasonably priced and are a great alternative to the bags which most of us are guilty of using only once before throwing away.
Honestly, I have no idea why we haven’t been using these sooner. Shampoo and conditioner really doesn’t need to be packaged in plastic just to be thrown out when it can be made into convenient bars. These take up less space in your luggage, are just as effective, and don’t harm the environment like traditional plastic packaging does. If you haven’t switched to these yet, do it now!
Batteries are some of the most toxic materials that fill landfills every year. They are absolutely horrendous for the environment, but luckily these sustainable products will help with that issue. These rechargeable batteries are a much better alternative than the classic single-use ones, and will also save you spending lots of money on purchasing batteries over and over again. A smart investment for both you and the planet.
Let’s be honest, most toothbrushes tend to get pretty worn out after just a few uses. However, the company Boie has created long-lasting toothbrushes that are made entirely out of BPA-free materials that are 100% recyclable. These sustainable products are both affordable and much better for the environment, so there’s really no excuse not to switch to them immediately.
While I’m sure showerheads probably aren’t something that come to mind when you think of sustainability, they definitely should be. These sustainable products claim to use about 75% less water than the traditional showerhead, and are very well-priced. Humans use far more water than is necessary for our day-to-day tasks, and these showerheads will help us to drastically reduce our water consumption.
I really have no idea why these aren’t already the standard in every household. These trash bags are 100% compostable, and they’re actually even cheaper than the traditional garbage bags most of us are using now? This is really a win-win situation no matter how you look at it, so you should most definitely buy some right now.
Saran wrap is honestly an extreme pain to use, and it’s about time we get rid of it. Bee’s Wrap is an environmentally friendly alternative to saran wrap that is made entirely from organic cotton and beeswax, making it biodegradable. While it’s recommended predominantly for use with vegetables, cheese, and bread products, it is infinitely better for the environment, and you should ditch the saran wrap for reusable containers regardless.
This is probably, in my opinion, one of the coolest items on the list. Spaghetti scrub is a cleaner that can be used on your dishes that is made of all-natural ingredients: cotton strips and peach pits. It’s definitely more sanitary than the over-used sponge you probably have laying around in your kitchen, can be used for 4-6 months and has absolutely no foul odours after use. There’s basically no downsides to this miracle product.
