15 Summer Wardrobe Picks For Every Woman In Her 20’s

I love summer because it gives me a chance to explore different colors, patterns and trends in my wardrobe. Here are some summer wardrobe picks to fill your June-August, no matter where you are.

Denim shorts

The moment I think of summer I think about denim shorts. Whether you’re rocking cut-offs, high-waist with embroidery or dark-wash Bermudas, denim shorts are an obvious staple for the denim lovers who hate giving up their jeans to the hot weather.

And for those who hate denim shorts…

Myself included. There’s nothing I hate more than putting something on my body that basically forces my thighs to rub together. BUT (thankfully!!!) there are alternatives! Bike shorts are on the rise this summer, rounding out the athleisure trend and basically becoming the perfect leggings-for-summer option. They’re wonderfully comfortable AND fashion forward.

A dressy summer shoe

A wedged espadrille is my go-to in the summer. They elevate any outfit to just the right extent. I always prefer wedges because they’re easy to walk in wherever you are, be it the beach or the city.

A white shirt with flair

White is always my favorite color to wear in the summer because it’s the best for showing off a tan. White blouses have always made the runaround, but it feels like this year they are serious business. I can’t scroll through Instagram without seeing an influencer in a gorgeous, ruffle-clad, semi-peasant white blouse. And I’m here for it. Plus, white is the perfect canvas to layer every color and type of accessory onto.

A classic sundress

What’s the easiest thing to put on when it’s hot out? A sundress. It’s effortless and cute. It’s timeless and trendy. It’s everything.

A giant beach hat

The bigger the better. Obviously, within reason. Hats are a little bit divisive. Most of us don’t think we can pull them off. I promise  you, you can, AND it elevates your whole outfit to a new level. Plus it protects you from the sun.

Dainty jewelry pieces

To layer or not to layer, that is the question… Everybody needs a few dainty jewelry pieces to add to their collection, especially now that it’s super on trend.

A perfect-length skirt

This piece can be hard to find, and obviously means a different thing to different people. For me, it’s a breezy midi skirt. It’s long enough to wear to work, and still cool for steamy summer days.

An off-the-shoulder blouse

It took me a while to like off-the-shoulder tops. The key is to find the right one that doesn’t slide up every time you move your shoulders. Rock one with some jeans and sneakers, and it makes the perfect, easy day-time outfit for summer wardrobe picks.

Dad shoes

The newest shoe trend might also take some time to get used to. While most of us were un-ironically rocking Sketchers and New Balances in middle school, Balenciaga recently decided to use our unfortunate shoe choices to their advantage. Wear your ugly dad shoes with pride. Your feet look great, girl.

Anything gingham

What says summer more than a skirt that resembles a picnic blanket? Everybody loves picnics, and if you don’t – you’re definitely doing it wrong. This pattern is super fun, no matter what color it’s in, and is super easy to pattern mix with for summer wardrobe picks.

A one piece bathing suit

One piece suits are slimming and classy, and give you the added bonus of not having to worry about losing your bikini bottoms in the ocean. Pair a one piece with an oversized button up, a headband and sunglasses to feel like you’re vacationing in the Mediterranean.

A linen jumpsuit

Not feeling a dress? A jumpsuit is the next best option. Need to go to a wedding? Looking for a first date outfit? A jumpsuit is an easy go-to for summer wardrobe picks.

Copy this look:

Earrings that are way bigger than any of your other accessories

These earrings scream, “HEY! Look at my ears!” And that’s just the kind of attention your lobes deserve.

Tiny sunglasses

One day Kanye emailed Kim and told her “only wear tiny sunglasses.” So I will also be taking that advice. Whatever you’re wearing, if you put on tiny sunglass, people take notice. All of a sudden you are a fashion icon, just like Kim with these summer wardrobe picks.
