Summer Vibes To Keep Your Mood Up

Summer vibes are always peaceful, low-key, and enjoyable, given the fact that summer is such a wonderful season and relaxing time of year. If you are anything like me, you love the summer months. Kicking back on the beach, enjoying running outdoors, or just recognizing the beauty that those long days and peaceful sunsets hold, summer is a truly beautiful season. Even though work and school stress may get in the way, (especially if you are taking summer classes), here are some awesome summer vibes to keep your mood up!

1. Recognize Daylight

Okay, so maybe I’m a little bit biased, because my birthday falls on July 11th, and that is literally in the middle of the summer. One of the easiest ways to feel happier or have a better mindset in the summer is to recognize the extended daylight. Over the summer of 2019, I would leave work at 5pm, and walking to my car I would notice the sun still shining as if it was 10 in the morning. I am someone who NEEDS sunlight to fuel my mood. To me, I automatically feel so much happier over the course of the summer, just for the fact alone that I can still go for a run after work at 5:30 PM, and have it still be bright and sunny (and warm). Enjoy every last second of sunshine in the summer, and the days lasting until 9PM!

2. Beach

In the summer, who doesn’t love the beach? We all have work, school, and other priorities filling our day-to-day, but making time for the beach in the summer is important, after all, it is the best time to visit. Even if you head down to the beach after a long day of work, and sit in your parked car, nothing can beat that bold rush of colors that hits at sunset, around 7 PM. Some of my best summer memories were laying out a towel and relaxing under the sun’s rays (with sunscreen of course), and a friend next to me.

3. Take Advantage Of Your Surroundings

This may be similar to the beach mentioned previously, but the summer months are a great way to enjoy what is around you. Go blueberry picking, strawberry picking, go for a walk, a run by the beach, and so on. When I was in high school, I used to get up early in the summer and walk to the closest coffee shop, to get my morning coffee. It was early, but it was nice and warm outside and it was the perfect way to have some alone time. I would encourage everyone to do that, maybe not walking to get a coffee, but it could be anything. Summer is my favorite season, and that’s why it is easy for me to have good vibes in the summer.

4. Get Tan

One thing that everyone dreads about the winter months, is not having that sun-kissed bronze look to their skin. Besides, nothing can beat laying on the beach all day, and then throwing on a dress and heading to dinner. The sun’s rays can be harmful and powerful, but as long as you apply sunscreen every few hours it can be a mini-vacation under the sun. Even if you are in your back yard, it can feel like paradise. Don’t forget sunscreen, though!

5. More Motivation

If you are anything like me, you are counting the days until summer arrives. I get the greatest spring fever, and that comes around the first week of May. Once summer truly hits, around the end of June, I feel a full sense of motivation and drive. I almost feel undefeated in the summer. In the summer of 2019, I took a Spanish course, and it was the highest level at my school that I needed to take and pass to meet the language degree requirements. With that being said, I specifically wanted to take it during the summer months as an online course, knowing how much motivation I feel in July and August. There is something about beautiful 75-degree weather and sunshine that makes me want to work, and not stop. Summer is such a short season, and my motivation is so high in the summer partly because I know I need to make the most of its perks! Sometimes I take advantage of being able to walk outside in shorts and not feel cold.

6. Windows Down

This next summer vibe is a given. Who doesn’t love the fresh breeze of the summer evening? Something about rolling your windows down in the summer just feels right. Take advantage of all of the fun things in the summer, that aren’t offered (or enjoyable) in the winter.

7. Ice Coffee Tastes Better

In the summer months, who doesn’t love sippin’ on an ice-cold coffee poured over ice? One of the best summer vibes is cold beverages feel different, (and usually better)! Take advantage of coffee this summer, and grab a cold coffee on your way home from work. I personally look forward to my morning caffeine, and I drink it cold 365 days out of the year. When really, ice coffee is meant for summer!

8. Enjoy

Lastly, enjoy your summer season. Even if you are no longer in high school or college, and you work a 9-5 job, make the most out of your summer. Plan mini-vacations, get ice cream, have a cookout, and go to the beach often. After all, the summer only lasts a couple of months! I’ll be loving the summer a little extra, because I’ll be 23 this summer, on July 11th.

Summer is my favorite season, and it is a great time to spend outside with friends and family. Where ever you live in the United States, there is something beautiful about the sunshine in your area. I hope everyone enjoyed these summer vibes, and feel free to comment on what your summer vibe is! Thank you, everyone, for reading!
