While I love both summertime and shoes, I’m often stumped fashion-wise come this season because I just don’t care that much about sandals. They cute and useful sure, letting your feet breathe in the heat, but they don’t excite me. I buy one pair of whatever looks cute and basic enough, and I wear those until they’re falling apart, without a care for whatever new and trendy options there are. Luckily, sandals don’t have the be the only shoe dominating your summer wardrobe. If you’re like me and looking for other style options, here are 10 trendy shoe styles you can seek out this season in lieu of the typical sandals.
Who says booties can only be worn in fall? In my opinion, booties are the cutest shoe style, and this choice totally follows through. The light, warm brown can go with most summer color palettes, and this shoe has a side slit that will still allow your foot to get some air.

I’m in love with these shoes. They’re a casual version of those black heels we’re all obsessed with that loop around the ankle. They’ve got more support than most sandals you’ll find and still lots of room to breathe. These shoes are the perfect trendy summer option.

These platforms scream summer in their white and light pink coloring. Platform shoes are a great way to get height in your shoe without feeling too fancy or uncomfortable in heels. Want to wear heels to a outdoor party or festival, but don’t want to constantly worry about sinking into the ground? Choose platforms. These have all the benefits of a sandal, while giving you a totally cute and different style option.

These shoes are similar to the black option shown earlier, but with a different kind of style. With the black and white stripes, they’ll function as more of a centerpiece to your outfit, rather than a supporting player. They also have a closed toe and a tan, woven bottom for a beach-ier vibe.

These shoes are an adorable hybrid. They bring the sportiness of a sneaker with the cuter qualities of a sandal: cut-outs, minimal straps, and buckle. They’re something totally different to pull out of your closet this summer. These trendy shoe styles are perfect for a night out on the town.

Oxfords are another kind of shoe that doesn’t have to be banished to the fall and winter seasons. With the delicate detailing and soft brown color, they can be incorporated into many a summer outfit, but with a quirkier style. Many also have a small heel for a fancier option. All oxfords are great, but these go an extra step of the way with an adorable heart pattern.

I love these shoes for their interesting style. While sandals can often be boring, these heels are the opposite, with their unexpected and intriguing design. The cut-outs are in unusual places, but they’re paired alongside classic qualities like the pointed toe and soft brown coloring, making this option something few others will have and all others will drool over.
For something super easy, but still cute, go for a pick like these American Eagle slip ons. The fabric is denim so they’ll go with about anything, and the white flowers are a pretty addition. Slip-ons like this are a no-fuss shoe choice you can put on whenever, but when you pick slip-ons as cute as these, you’re still giving your outfits extra style. These trendy shoe styles are perfect for summer dresses or shorts and a crop top.
