7 Summer Skincare Tips That You Should Live By This Season

As you spend the day laying out on the beach enjoying the sun, it’s easy to forget about the harmful UV rays that are hitting your skin. Skincare is always important, but even more so during the summertime. Follow these simple summer skincare tips to keep you and your skin feeling extra healthy this season!

Sunscreen

The most obvious and useful skin care tip in the summer is to wear sunscreen – lots and lots of sunscreen. If you want to avoid oily skin and clogged pores, you should use a lightweight sunscreen such as Glossier Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen. If you are wearing makeup, you should use a foundation or tinted moisturizer with sunscreen in it. And make sure that you don’t forget to protect your lips as they are skin too!

Wear A Hat

I think we can all agree that there are few things in life that make you feel more self conscious than having a peeling scalp from sunburn and worrying that people are mistaking it for dandruff. But thankfully, there is an extremely simple solution for this situation – wear a hat! Not only are hats super cute and trendy, they will also help protect your scalp and face from the sun. This is one of the easiest and most important of the summer skincare tips.

Drink Water

A great way to combat dehydrated skin in the summer is to drink tons of water. If you are someone who struggles to drink enough water throughout the day, I find it easier when I have a new water bottle to keep it exciting. I recommend getting this gallon jug from Amazon and challenging yourself to finish it every day. You can also add lemon or other fruits to make the water more flavorful! On top of drinking water, you can also stay hydrated by eating fruits with lots of water in them, such as watermelon and cantaloupe. This is one of the most vital summer skincare tips.

Exfoliate And Moisturize

Exfoliating can help get rid of the dry, dead skin cells that can result from excessive heat and sun exposure during the summer. It is recommended to exfoliate twice a week, so you don’t strip your skin of its natural oils. Exfoliating is super easy because there are several natural and homemade options for exfoliates. If you decide to make it yourself, try adding lemon juice into the scrub to help lighten the dark spots caused by too much sun exposure. After exfoliating it’s important to moisturize as well. Moisturizing every day helps hydrate your skin from the outside in and it will keep your skin looking smooth and flake-free. It’s also really beneficial to moisturize after time spent out in the sun. This helps strengthen the skin so it can fight against the impact of UV exposure by replenishing the lost moisture. You can use aloe-infused lotions to help alleviate the pain caused by sunburn.

Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is a new beauty trend that has a number of benefits! It is another great tool to combat dry skin during the summer. The brush will help your skin shed the dead cells and build new, brighter ones. Additionally, the firm bristles improve circulation which helps the body eliminate unwanted toxins. It is recommended to dry brush twice a day and before showering.

Acne Wash

As the temperatures continually rises throughout the summer, it is inevitable that you will sweat. However, the sweat isn’t even the worst of it – it’s the acne that develops afterward. In order to keep your skin clear and acne-free this summer, use a body wash that contains active ingredients that fight against acne, such as salicylic acid.

Fake Tanner

The best way to protect your skin in the summer is to avoid the sun as much as possible. But this doesn’t mean you can’t still have that sun-kissed look – just use self tanner! It’s a win-win because not only do you have tan skin, you also have damage-free skin. There are several self-tanning options out there including moisturizers that will gradually tan your skin as you use it, such as Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. I think something like this is the best option because it is easier to apply and keeps your skin hydrated.
