Summer Skincare Products You Need Before Hitting The Beach

Between the humidity, the sun, and salty water, summer is a lot for our skin to handle before you add a beach trip to the agenda. While the beach is a lot of people’s happy place, (me!) it can be really harsh on the skin. From products to use before hitting the beach to ones that you can use daily or after you get sunburned, you definitely should check these skincare products out! While each product is extremely helpful in the summertime, remember to find a product that works for you. These are just general suggestions to help you have the best skin at the beach!

Before you go use these:

Hydrating Face Masks: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair

Prepare yourself for the sun and saltwater with a super hydrating face mask. You will want to find one that will not only hydrate but nourish and calm your skin. While you can use any hydrating face mask, the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair is a great choice since it is deeply hydrating as well as nourishing, calming and rejuvenating for the skin. In ten minutes, you can have soft skin that is ready to face the day (no pun intended!) The best thing about this mask is it is also good for after the sun, so if your skin needs some soothing after a day at the beach, you can reach for this mask then too!

Under Eye Masks: Milk Makeup Cooling Water Eye Patches

With all the bright sun at the beach, you won’t want to show up with super noticeable dark undereye circles. Whether they are from partying too hard the night before, the long trip to the beach or just life in general, no one wants to have dark circles or puffiness if they can help it! Banish those with an under-eye mask that will reduce not only dark circles but puffiness too. Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water Eye Patches are a great choice because they fight puffiness, redness and more all while staying in place so you can do whatever you need to while they work for you!

Nighttime Lip Therapy

If you are anything like me, you fight dry lips all summer long. The worst part is when you go to the beach, the combination of the sun, water and potential sunburn forces you to stay under the umbrella the whole time! Fight the chapped-lip fight with a nighttime lip therapy that you can use the night before and after you head to the beach! Use a product like Bite’s Agave+ Nighttime Lip Therapy so you can just apply it, sleep and wake up to luscious lips! The formula soothes and hydrates lips while you sleep, coating them in moisture all night long!

Be prepared for the fun with:

Sunscreen: Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen

Obviously, sunscreen is an obvious summer skincare necessity but just because you have to wear it doesn’t mean you can’t find one that you’ll actually WANT to use! You can find sunscreens now that melt into your skin and moisturize all while protecting you from harmful sun rays. If you want to forget you are wearing sunscreen at all, try Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen. It’s totally invisible, weightless, scentless and can be used as a makeup primer if you decide to add some to your beach look! Not only is it water and sweat proof, but the formula is also reef-friendly now too, so you won’t have to worry about your aquatic friends as you swim!

Blotting Papers: Elf Mattifying Blotting Papers

When you are getting oily, don’t grab that sandy towel to dab your face. One, it’s covered in sand and two, who knows what else is on it. An easy fix is to have blotting papers with you! For relatively cheap, you can get a package of these to have in your beach bag or purse all summer long. For someone who gets oily fairly quick, these are a lifesaver, especially at things like picnics, cookouts or bonfires on the beach. For less than five bucks, you can grab mattifying blotting papers from e.l.f. that will help you mattify and absorb oil without disturbing your makeup! For the cheap price of $2, you can get several packages of these and keep them in your purse, beach bag and car so you never have to worry about oily skin!

Setting Spray: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

There is nothing worse than sweating your face off, (me every summer) or looking like you are melting. This is where the setting spray comes into play. After you carefully apply your lewk for the day, don’t let it go to waste, set it in place! With an almost perfect rating and a cult following, Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray will have your back for up to 16 hours! If you want your makeup to stay in place all day long (and through the night) grab some of this and you will be all…set!

Once you’re home:

Micellar Water: Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water

Once you are done with the surf and sand for the day, be kind to your skin. Avoid harsher makeup removers and opt for a gentle micellar water to cleanse your skin. Micellar water removes makeup gently and refreshes the skin without irritating it after a long day in the sun. Garnier’s all in one cleanser will remove your makeup while hydrating your skin. The non-rinse formula will leave skin feeling clean without an oily residue. The best part-it’s great for all skin types!

After Sun Care: Burt’s Bees Aloe and Coconut Oil After Sun Soother

If you spent a little too much time in the sun at the beach, be prepared with an after-sun care lotion or treatment. Whether you actually got a sunburn or your skin is overly dry, having a soothing and hydrating lotion to put on at the end of the day is a crucial summer skincare product. Burt’s Bees after sun soothing lotion is the perfect option since it is soothing for burnt skin, hydrating for dry skin and nourishing all around. The natural ingredients are fast-acting and the aloe and coconut oil blend will have your skin feeling hydrated in no time!
