Summer Makeup Must-Haves For 2020

Summer makeup makes for a flirty and glamorous look, but it doesn’t have to leave you broke or your pores clogged. With all of your summer activities planned, we have a few must-have products for this summer 2020. Everyone has a different skin type, and everyone wears makeup differently. With that in mind, we have customized looks for every style. It can be difficult sometimes to follow and keep up with the changing trends of makeup, and in the summer we all are busy. Re-think how you do your summer makeup routine!

1. Tarte Sugar Rush Shimmertime Body Oil

In the summer months, we all are busy. Maybe you have a cook-out planned, pool day, beach day, or night out with your girls. Whatever your plans, not everyone has time for that bronze, golden shimmer look. I used body oil a few summers ago and I really loved it. Ulta has one by the brand Tarte, and it has a shimmer undertone. Spray this all over your body or in desired areas after getting out of the shower. Bam! You are ready for the day (or night).

2. Tinted Moisturizer

In the summer, we all worry about sun exposure. Buying a tinted moisturizer will be your best friend, and you don’t need to spend a ton of money. Drug-store brands like Neutrogena carry great ones, or you can head to a department store. The most important is to buy a tinted moisturizer with SPF, at least SPF 15, which most of them have. This product works in 3 ways: it works as a moisturizer, protecting your skin against harmful UV rays, AND provides medium coverage and acts as a foundation/ blemish concealer. Use this product as your weapon this summer, day and night.

3. Tinted Lip Balm

You may find that the word ‘tinted’ is appearing a lot. Well, that’s because it is worth every penny, girl. In the summer it’s all about finding the right makeup for you, and finding what keeps your skin happy and healthy. With that in mind, we are always exposed to the sun in the summer, even if we only go outside for a short period of time. The sun dries out our skin and lips. If you are looking for a dual-action product, a tinted lip balm is it. This lip product acts as two things: a classic hydrating lip balm/ chapstick, AND a little pop of color that you would get with any standard lip gloss or lipstick.

4. Bronze

If there is one thing I know about summer makeup, it is that a golden bronze is an essential product for any summer makeup routine. You can even skip the foundation or concealer and just sweep some bronzer on your temples and down your T-zone, for a natural and sunkissed look. At your local drug store, you can browse around, and you don’t need to spend a fortune! Get bronze this summer, and enjoy every second of it.

5. Dry Shampoo

This may not be a summer makeup obsession, but it is a must-have for summer. Our hair goes through so much in the summer between the salt in the ocean, hair products, heat tools, and more. The best thing you can do for your hair is to leave it be, and go 5-6 days without washing it. I mean, if you just took a dip in the ocean or pool, then, of course, you can wash your hair like you normally would. But if you can avoid daily washes, your hair will really thank you. I have a subscription to Ipsy bag, which has become my best friend, and in one of my monthly bags was dry shampoo. It really works wonders! Plus, the purpose of dry shampoo is to hydrate your hair without the over-drying of frequent shampoo. Apply at the roots, spray, go. Just be sure to stand back a few inches away from the roots before spraying, or else your hair may look greasy.

6. Waterproof Mascara

Everyone loves mascara. We hope you need the waterproof to protect you in the ocean, and not to protect your makeup because of tears, but stuff happens! No matter what kind of day (or night) you are having, waterproof mascara is the way to go. You’ll be glamorous and also avoid the raccoon look if your mascara does end up drooling. Not to mention, you’ll be ready for the ocean and any steamy shower you may find yourself in. Wink- wink. Summer can be for romance, too!

7. Cream-Based Eyeshadow

In terms of your summer makeup, not many of us have the time to do a thorough, sexy smokey eye. However, that doesn’t mean you have to skip the eyeshadow entirely. Luckily, a cream-based eyeshadow gives you that hint of color you have been wanting, and maybe a little shimmer of sparkle. In seconds you can achieve this look, and many drug-stores like CVS have these products, and it won’t hurt your bank account either. These cream-based eye shadows also come in a variety of shades, and the best brand (personally) to get them from is L’Oreal or Maybelline. In just a few seconds you’ll have a simple, but glamorous look. Summer is the best time to keep things simple, and we don’t want the sun or sweat to naturally fade the looks we worked so hard on.

Everyone loves summer and makeup, but with styles and trends frequently changing it can be hard to keep up or know what to spend money on. I hope these looks gave you some ideas on what to buy or how to do your makeup. Summer is my favorite season, and this year, re-think how you do your makeup.
