Summertime: the time when you know it’s way too hot for jeans, but your shorts from last year just don’t seem to fit right anymore. Oh, and you can’t forget the fact that your legs just aren’t quite tan enough yet. The time when crop tops shouldn’t be worn to formal functions, but you can’t bear the thought of being cooped up in a sweatbox of unnecessary fabric.
Fashion mistakes can be hard to navigate, especially in the summer. With these tips, hopefully, you can slay summer with a bit more ease.
I know. We have all been there.
Your body just isn’t the exact glowing bronze shade that you would like it to be. Simple solution, fake it til you make it. Want to look like you just left the Bahamas? Self-tanner.
But there is just one thing that you need to keep in mind. STREAKS. A great self-tan application is free of any indications that it is, in fact, a fake tan. It can be so hard to figure out if you have blended everything out enough. Whether you ask a friend to help you or make sure that you have a mirror that can show you all angles, just make sure that you check before you go out. Nothing worse than a streaky tan!
You must know what is appropriate and inappropriate attire. It can be so easy to throw on a bikini and a cover-up and take on the unruly heat. However, if you are going to a business picnic, a graduation party, or any event of that kind- though it may be daunting, you might want to make sure that you are dressed for the occasion.
A formal business gathering or a party of some kind may not be the best time to sport your shorts from a few years ago that you know don’t fit properly, or risk it all with a cropped top.
While of course, these are perfect summer items, just always remember there is always a time and a place where these clothing pieces are more acceptable.
Don’t just assume it is going to be extremely hot or even comfortable out. Always make sure you are prepared for whatever the day holds.
For example, say on Tuesday there was a nice breeze. You shouldn’t assume that Wednesday is going to be the same.
There is nothing worse than stepping outside either having too much fabric on and sweating off half of your body weight or not having enough and being chilly.
The key is to make sure you are comfortable so you are able to enjoy whatever your day has in store for you.
By all means, do whatever makes you feel comfortable.
BUT it is crucial that you keep in mind the fact that your makeup may very well slip right off your face. It’s not the cutest of looks and is definitely on the list of fashion mistakes to avoid.
If you know you are going to be out in the heat, and you want to wear makeup, try using a light hand and skip out on unnecessary products. Unless mascara dripping down your cheeks and foundation missing on random patches is the look you are going for, then be mindful.
If you want to make your makeup stay longer, have no fear: I have come to the rescue.
First and foremost, you are going to want to powder. Any areas that you may get oily or sweaty throughout the day, powder powder powder. This will add an extra layer of protection. Next, make sure you have a great setting spray. Not only will this spray help the powder sink melt into your skin, but it will ensure that your makeup lasts as long as possible.
