With Summer almost upon us, you might be at a loss for how to fill the long days ahead. Luckily, there are dozens of fun Summer activities you can take part in this season. Here are my top 10 ideas if you’re looking to have some Summer fun.
This one’s probably the most obvious. It’s going to be hot, and you’re probably going to want to cool down and catch a tan while doing so. Head to the beach with your friends; grab some suntan lotion, your favorite book, a towel, and pack a few snacks. Spend a classic Summer day in the sun. If you aren’t close to the beach, go to your favorite pool, or any body of water by you.
Head to your favorite shady spot with some friends, a blanket, and a basket of food and have yourself a picnic. Bring arts and crafts to do while you’re at it, and take an aesthetically pleasing picture or two. This is a great activity to do on a hot day when you don’t have anything else planned. Head to your local park, your backyard, or anywhere with a nice patch of grass and nature to look at.
If you’re looking to get some exercise outdoors, biking is a great go to. Hit up your favorite bike path, or just take a ride around your neighborhood. You’ll get your heart rate up but won’t get too hot while you’re at it. This is a great activity to do with friends, or even solo, if you find yourself alone and bored on a Summer day.
Throw a dinner party potluck with friends this Summer! Ask everyone to bring their favorite Summer dish, spark up the grill, and pop open a few of your favorite bottles of wine. Potlucks are a great way to bring people together and enjoy delicious food while you’re at it.
Take a break from the beach and partying and educate yourself a little by hitting up a local museum. You’ll be able to stay cool in an AC environment, while also admiring some pretty cool art. Research which museums are the most popular in your town and head on down for some cultured fun. Snap a picture or two while you’re at it.
Hiking is a great outdoor activity, no matter what time of year. But if you’re looking to hike in the Summer, I recommend setting your alarm a little early and heading out in the morning. You’ll escape the worst of the sun, and start your day off right with some nature and endorphins flowing. Go with a friend you’d like to catch up with and make it a morning.
This is a great idea if you enjoy tea and coffee and want to have a cute get together with friends. Break out your favorite mugs, teacups, teapot, etc. Set the table and lay out a few snacks to nibble on, then invite some people over and have a classy party.
If you have a fire pit at home, this one’s easy; if not, head to your local campsite or beach and light up a fire yourself (just make sure you check you’re allowed to first). Bring some marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers to make smores, the classic Summer snack. Crack open some beers or a bottle of wine or two and make a night out of it.
Many towns start playing outdoor movies with the commencement of Summer. These are often held at local parks across town; do a quick search and see if there are any outdoor movie showings near you. Bring your favorite blanket, snacks, a few close friends, and settle in and enjoy the movie!
Head to your favorite local amusement park for a day of fun. Or better yet, if there are any water parks near you, hit one of those up to stay cool on a hot day while also getting your thrill fix.
