Studying is sometimes one of those tasks we just leave behind until we have nowhere to put it but do it. There are some things that can make learning faster, easier and more entertaining. Apply these techniques to make the most out of your studying periods.
Forget having to sit and study for more than three hours straight without breaks because that will likely not serve anyone. We bring you some studying techniques that might change the way you are used to learning and why not? Improve it!
There are times when we are studying that we think that by just reading what is written on a book it will stick to our memory. And while some people work like that it might not serve us all. Instead of just reading try speaking out loud what you have read and even re-say it in your own words to get a deeper understand it of it.
This studying technique has been proved more effective than simply reading because when you repeat out loud you are more likely to memorize what you just said.
Sometimes just reading the subject you have to memorize it’s not enough. A good studying technique you can add to your routines is being more creative than just reading the subject. Create diagrams with color codes, make games, questionnaires, make mental associations of the subject with daily situations or just illustrate the concepts you need to memorize.
This studying technique will not only make you studying time more dynamic but will active your visual memory which will help you during an exam.
Maybe you are studying the World War or the Industrial Revolution and just by reading the titles you are already falling asleep. Topics that don’t attract us as much as other things will do can be difficult to memorize and learn, but there are other studying techniques than just reading what has been written in the books. For example, you could talk to a professional on the subject that can add more interesting facts about the matter you are studying to alternate things a bit.
Maybe even search documentaries or movies that will deepen your knowledge of the subject and will be more interesting to you than just reading what happened on a book. Another great way is gathering a group of colleagues and hearing the info from other points of views that will help you understand better.
If you are one of those people who can’t study without music playing in the background, be sure to choose one that really helps you out and doesn’t make the contrary effect, distracting you. If you are a heavy metal or reggaeton fan that’s totally fine but try not studying with that music out loud, because you are trying to learn not having a party of your own! Instead try music with natural sounds such as rain, classical music or jazz with a moderate volume.
Another studying technique that involves music is making a playlist that lasts from 30 to 40 minutes that way when the music ends you will now you need a break. And remember after studying reward yourself with blasting your favorite songs!
This studying technique will help you practice what you have just learned! There are different apps you can download to quiz yourself that are usually free and easy to use. You can also make index cards with questions and ask a friend to make them to you.
Questionnaires can also be a great ally while studying and you can even get a few on the internet to challenge yourself with something different. You can even invent your own answering game you can share with your friends to make studying a funnier practice!
