It’s never easy when embarking on the gallery wall making path, there’s a lot of thinking and debating as well as uncertainty on whether you will like the end result.
But once you start don’t start doubting yourself, regardless you will end up with something you genuinely like and can be proud to show off.
Remember there are a few steps you should take when setting up a gallery wall, and make sure you follow them to not end up with something random. Here are some of the steps to take.
Now, I don’t literally mean you need to sit down to organize yourself, more like establish where, in what room and how you want to set up your wall gallery. Start planning it out in your head and start deciding the pictures you want to add in. You can start by taping some of the pieces up and seeing if you actually like them in that spot.
Write everything down so you don’t forget.
This is the harder part. Do you want two pictures or more? Do you want them all to be aligned and aesthetically pleasing? Or do you want it to be more like an art gallery with pictures hung to ones liking? Are you planning on having only pictures? Are the pictures all the same dimensions? So on and so forth. Ask yourself these questions, answer them and write them down. Start by looking at some examples of wall galleries and wall gallery layouts to decide what you find suites you.
Have a journal where you keep all of this in. Draw how you would want your gallery wall to look.
Right, decide a theme and stick to it. Are you wanting all similar patterns. For example, example a. is for those who want a more earthy vibe. It’s all the same colors and patterns and they have a more minimal vibe in the way they are hung as well. Example c. is for those who have a more artistic point of view. They like alternative images and aren’t afraid of judgement or opinion. The wall gallery if for them and it makes them proud. The pieces chosen are very chic and are hung in an unconventional style. While image c. demonstrates a more rustic gallery wall, with pieces that aren’t only pictures. There are signs and homey elements.
These are just examples you can take from, but at the end of the day the gallery wall is yours and needs to follow what you consider is your go-to theme.

Now, if you have a certain reoccurring color in your gallery wall you must stick to it throughout the room to make sure it makes sense and things don’t class. It’s a fundamental part of having a gallery wall, it makes the room up and sets the tone and vibe of the specific room.
Make sure to stick to one or two of the most seen colors in the gallery wall, otherwise too many chosen colors becomes too much.
Lastly, before setting everything up, give it a test run. See it you like it. Hang everything up temporarily and make sure you 100% love it because it’ll stay there for a while so you need to make sure you and everyone is on board with it.
