Staples Pieces For Any Closet This Spring

We’re hoping spring 2021 looks a little different than the potential work from home outfits we’ve been rotating through. Regardless of the worldly conditions, we still have the opportunity to look cute and chic. Just like every other season, there are staple pieces that you need to have for Spring. Not to fret! We’ve compiled our must-haves for spring 2021.

1.  White sneakers

Starting strong but predictable. White sneakers are always staple pieces but I’d like to argue they are the most useful in spring. Having a go-to pair of white sneakers to throw on with a casual outfit or to even help dress down an outfit is essential to a versatile spring closet. There are a variety of styles to choose from. Nike AF1’s are a crowd favorite but you can go with Keds, Adidas, Rothy’s, you name it!

2. Trench Coat

A lightweight but durable coat is exactly what you need for this transitional season. Trench coats are the perfect staple pieces to throw on if it’s going to get a bit colder throughout the day or it’s one of those April shower days. You can go with a classic trench or go for something a little more daring like a colorful anorak.

3. White Button-down

The white button-down is an absolute must right now but has always been a staple piece in any closet. We’ve all known the importance of having a white button-down is for a last-minute interview or a quick sophisticated look. This staple piece has been seen styled so many different ways in the last 6 months. 90’s prep has been extremely popular on different platforms like Instagram and TikTok. The white button-down can be taken from work to a night out in a matter of minutes with a few quick changes.

4. Kitten Heel

We know we have a lot of shoes on this list but switching up your shoes is a great way to add some variation to your outfit. We all know a pair of white sneakers go with nearly everything. Try pairing your favorite pair of denim with a fun pair of kitten heels that will bring some youth to your outfit. Spring is your chance to add fun patterns and colors to your outfits. Embrace the fun. Not loving the heel with your mom jeans? Swap it out for a floral wrap dress and tote bag for your gal on the go look.

5. Vintage Style Denim

We all know the importance of denim in a closet. Denim is truly the foundation of a good closet. Vintage denim is a must for spring and transitioning out of the winter. These more relaxed types of jeans can be the perfect building block for any of your outfits this spring. High waisted mom jeans and high-rise straight-leg are both good options to search for when expanding your denim collection. Don’t forget to check out secondhand stores first before overspending on denim. Pro tip: Always check thrift stores and consignment shops for denim first. Even if they aren’t the exact fit you’re looking for, you can always take them into the dry cleaners to be hemmed and taken in. There you have it. A custom pair of denim just for you!

6. Graphic Tee

Casual pieces are a must in any closet. There are various reasons for this. One being so you can throw something on quickly. Nothing shouts casual more than jeans, a graphic tee, and a pair of white sneakers. Two, graphic tees are a great way to add color and something eye-catching to a look. We love pairing our graphic tees with something more structured like a blazer or a pair of loafers. There’s a cool contrast between the more menswear business blazer and the more relaxed grunge graphic tee. Graphic tees are essential staple pieces to have in your closet at all times. Period!

7. Blazer

No if, ands, or buts you MUST have a blazer in your closet this spring. One of our favorite looks right now is a perfectly oversized blazer with a pair of vintage denim and layered necklaces. Like the white button-down, a blazer isn’t just a staple piece for spring, but your closet in general. A blazer is a multifunctioning piece that can take you to work, drinks, and then brunch the next day. There are a ton of options when it comes to cut, style, color, and fit. Take the time to find what works best for you!

8. Loafer

Incorporating a loafer into your closet is a must if you’re needing a little switch up in your everyday shoe game. Loafers are a great way of adding a bit of sophistication to an outfit without having to put on a heel. It’s comfortable like a sneaker but gives you that extra oomph. We recommend investing in staple pieces that will last you a lifetime.

9. Loose Trousers

Nothing screams spring more than a loose, relaxed pair of trousers. Having a pair of wide-leg pants in your closet is essential for spring because it helps break up those thicker tighter fitting bottoms that you’ve been wearing to keep you warm throughout the winter. The wider leg gives a breath of fresh air to any outfit. We can feel the warm breeze and sunshine already.

10. Yoga Pants

We know, we know. We caught you off guard with this one. That’s exactly why we put it at the end. We know these yoga pants seem like a quick little passing trend that popped back up out of nowhere. But we can’t seem to find them in stock anywhere and we are loving the throwback to Y2k. We have seen so many people rocking this throwback trend everywhere and want to hop on so we can ride this train for as long as possible. Because these are just a casual pair of flared pants you have the opportunity to style these so many ways. You can dress these down with a cute crewneck and white sneakers, or even with a pointed to bootie and blazer or a more sophisticated look.

Seasons come and go. The change is a call for something new. This spring spruce up your closet essentials with some of our favorites. Whether they are out of your comfort zone like the yoga pants, or a total staple for you every year like the button down, don’t forget to give your staple pieces a little refresh! You deserve it after all!
