13 Spooky Cocktail Recipes You’ll Love

Halloween will soon be upon us and it’s time to get spooky! What better way than to throw a party with Halloween themed drinks to impress your guests, which they won’t even remember by the end of the night! Here are 13 spooky cocktail recipes you’ll love and be dying to try this fall!

1. Bloody Eyeball Cocktail

There are a few ways you can make this drink. You can mix up a simple gin and tonic and add red grape juice for the “bloody” effect. For the eyeball, it’s most common to shove raspberries or blackberries into canned lychees. Put all that in a punch bowl and you have a bunch of eyeballs floating around for a creepy, cool drink.

For a more flavorful experience try blending 4 cups of tart cherry juice, 1 cup orange juice, 1 can sparkling water, 2 cans ginger ale, 1 1/2 cup vodka or rum and a handful of ice cubes until ice is crushed. Then serve with your berry and lychee eyeballs.

2. Shrunken Head Punch

A little more work goes into creating the creepy display of this punch. Start with 2 packages of gummy worms and place one worm in each plastic ice cube tray, with worm partially hanging out of each cube. Pour cranberry juice over worm, place tray freezer until frozen.

To make the shrunken heads you’ll need drinking straws, pitted prunes, 18 whole cloves, 1 cup white chocolate chips and 1/4 cup sweetened flake coconut. Push the straw through the prune to create the head.

To make the eyes for your heads, in a small bowl melt white chocolate chips for 45-seconds at 15-second intervals, stirring at each interval. Then take the 12 cloves and dip them into the melted chocolate and set aside on wax paper and allow chocolate to set for 15 minutes.

With your leftover chocolate, using a toothpick, use it to coat each prune with the chocolate. Sprinkle coconut on each prune so it resembles hair. Take your cloves, and stick 2 into each prune for the eyes, then 1 undipped clove under each of the eyes to make a nose.

For the punch itself you’ll need 3 12-ounce bottles of strawberry smoothie, 2 quarts of orange juice and 3 cans of lemon-lime soda + 1 1/2-2 cups vodka, pour all this into a large punch bowl and stir. Add your now frozen gummy worm ice cubes. Place leftover cubes in glasses and serve with shrunken head straws.

3. Spooky Pumpkin Mule

No this isn’t pumpkin flavored. But what makes it Halloween is that it’s served in a hollowed-out pumpkin. That should get you in the spooky spirit! It’s recommended you add dry ice to create the effect of fog. But aside from that, you’ll need 2 750 ml bottles of ginger beer and limes, plus half of a 750 ml bottle of vodka. Stir and add straws if you wish to all drink from the pumpkin because apparently, that’s a suggestion.

4. Cobweb Martini

In a shaker or strainer add 1 part Malibu Original, 1 part coconut cream and 1 1/2 parts of apple juice and shake with ice. Pour into martini glasses and top with white cotton candy.

5. For The Love Of A Vampire

In a mixing glass you’ll want to add 1/4 Irish Whiskey, 1 part Campari and 1 part sweet vermouth, then fill with ice. Stir and chill if you wish to dilute the cocktail then strain and pour into a serving glass. Top with an edible eyeball (like the ones we made above).

6. Black Widow

Like an old fashioned, but with spiders. Place plastic toy spiders in ice cube tray, fill with water and place in the freezer. Combine 1 1/2 ounces Bloody Butcher Bourbon and 2 ounces of Dram Palo Santo Bitters in glass and serve with frozen cubes that contain the toy spiders. Garnish with white cotton candy to create a cobweb effect and add more plastic spiders if desired.

7. Candy Corn Sunrise

For a cocktail that shines like the colors of the beloved (or despised) iconic Halloween candy try this fun recipe! Taking a large, chilled glass, rub the rim into black sugar so the top is coated.  Add 1 1/2 ounces tequila and 3 ounces Tropicana Tangerine Lemonade. Place 1 ounce of grenadine on top to float and garnish with an orange slice.

8. Bloody Mary

This drink has the spook factor built right into the name, so we have to include it on this list. Plus what better time of year to enjoy alcoholic tomato juice than in the fall and winter? In a mixing glass combine 3 oz. of tomato juice, 2 tsp. lemon juice, 3 oz. vodka and 3 dashes of Worchester sauce, 1 dash of tobacco sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Shake with ice, then strain into a tall glass and garnish with celery, basil leaves, and green olives.

9.  Dark And Stormy

“It was a dark and stormy night…” for this simply, spooky cocktail recipe. In a large shaker combine 2 oz. gin, 1 oz. pomegranate juice, and 1-ounce simple syrup. Shake with ice for 30 seconds. Serve in a martini glass with dry ice so it gets eerie and foggy. The dark coloring of the liquids gives it almost a bloody look.

You can opt to rim the glass with black sugar before adding pour your liquid contents to give it an extra “dark and stormy” feel.

10. White Zombie

What would Halloween be without a White Zombie cocktail? Whether you’re watching the first full-length zombie film or you’re rocking out to metal this spooky cocktail will surely liven up your Halloween bash!

In a shaker with ice add 1 oz. white rum, 1 ounce gold rum, and 1 ounce Wray & Nephew 151 rum (a lot of rum, but add whatever you feel like to save some money). Also add 1-ounce lemon-lime juice, 1 oz. pineapple juice, 1 ounce coconut cream and 1/2 ounce ginger liquor, 1/2 ounce triple sec and a little dash of absinthe (if desired for that spooky feel). This is a surprisingly sweet, tropical cocktail too.

Shake vigorously and strain into a tall glass (or skull cups too), with finely crushed ice. Add a straw, garnish with lime, and some of those edible eyes, and enjoy!

11. Absolut Masquerade

This dark, dark red cocktail most fit for a vampire, is made by adding 1 1/2 oz. Absolut Vodka, 2 oz.  black currant juice, and 1/2 oz. Chartreuse in a mixing glass. Stir with ice, and strain into a chilled martini glass.

12. Spellbound

A witch’s brew or potion this ghastly green beverage will have you singing “I put a spell on you” as you try to sing along to Hocus Pocus because you’ll be one drink away from the grave. Take your martini glass (or plastic skull cup from Michaels, literally any of these drinks could and should be served in them), and rim it with orange and black sprinkles. In a cocktail shaker with ice add 2 oz. Pinnacle Atomic Hot Vodka, 1 oz. DeKuyper Pucker Sour Apple Schnapps, and 1 oz. apple juice. Shake and strain, and serve with a lime wedge for some extra green envy.

13. Black Cauldron

For something extra wicked that will make your little black heart happy, in a cocktail shaker filled with ice add 1 1/2 parts Hornito’s Black Barrel Tequila, 3/4 part lemon juice, 1/4 part agave nectar, and 1/4 part sage simple syrup, 2 dashes bitters, and 1 capsule activated charcoal. Shake vigorously, strain into a martini glass and top with a lemon slice.

  • Note: consuming too much edible charcoal, while considered healthy because it flushes your system, can also flush out good stuff too. So if you’re taking medicine like antibiotics, birth control, steroids, immunosuppressants or any other prescribed medication use caution when consuming charcoal (and honestly alcohol too).
