Splatter Nail Art Tutorial
Nail art seems to be all the rage these days. But who wants to go to a salon and spend hundreds of dollars when you can do it yourself? Now I’m not the best manicurist, but even this splatter nail art is something I can do to myself, and so can you! All you need is your nail polish colors( a base color and what you want to splatter), newspaper, a normal-sized straw, paper, foil, acetone, tape, and a clean up brush.
You start off by painting your nails with the base color. It doesn’t have to be white, it can be whatever color you like. Make sure the base color is dry before you do anything else.
Now this step is optional, but it helps keep your fingers clean when you are splattering the nail polish. If you’d like, you can tape up your fingers. There are also rumors that Vaseline helps to keep nail polish off of your hands, but you can also skip this step completely and just clean off your fingers with acetone at the end.
Use your foil, or just a piece of paper if you want, and pour out a drip or two of one nail polish color onto it.
Dip your straw into the nail polish.
Before you do this next step, make sure that you have covered your area in newspaper or something else because this could get messy and you don’t want to be having to get nail polish off of a counter, table, etc. Once that is set up, blow into the straw opposite of where the nail polish is, of course. You may want to practice on a piece of paper a few times to see how close you should be and how hard to blow. When you’re ready, do the color onto your nails, just one or two blows of each color on each nail.
Now, if you didn’t use tape or anything, you can clean up your fingers and cuticles using acetone and a brush. You can find a tutorial on how to here.
And now you have pretty paint-splattered nails! You’ll want to finish with a top coat to give it that extra shine, and clean up all the newspaper and paint-covered foil, but that’s it! Easy, huh?
