10 Reasons Why Your Sorority Sisters Are The Best Kind Of Friends
It happened. Whether you want to admit it or not, you joined a sorority and fell in love. Your sisters are all that you talk about. Everyone around you knows your sisters’ names even if they’ve never met that girl in their life. These girls went from being complete strangers, to people you can’t live without!
I know that there are some people out there who disagree with Greek life, and don’t feel like it’s the right choice for them and that’s more than okay. But for you girls out there that went through recruitment and accepted your bid, you’re going to know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.
Your sorority sisters are the best kind of friends and here’s why:
1. You share the same values.
Bid day is the craziest thing!! You are more than excited to have found your new home that you are hugging on every person you see. Then you stop and think about it, and you have no idea who these people are. All you know is that you were asked to join the same chapter for a reason. That reason being you share the same values. So even though you are taking pictures with and hugging on a complete stranger, it’s okay because you know that girl is probably going to turn out to be one of your favorite humans on this planet!
2. They give the BEST advice.
The thing about sororities, is that there are so many girls surrounding you EVERY SINGLE DAY. If you need help, or just want to talk to someone, there will always be someone there to help you. Whether it’s school stressing you out more than ever, or a dumb boy who doesn’t have a clue, or even you just missing home, your sorority sisters will be able to help a girl out because they know exactly what to say. Here’s the thing, one of them has probably felt the exact same way you do and they know just what you need.
3. Secrets bind you together.
Every sorority has it’s secrets. I think it makes each of us unique in our own way. Your sorority sisters are the only ones that know and keep the same secrets that you do. You all know that you are apart of something bigger than yourselves. These secrets bind you together as one.
4. They are ok with taking thousands of pictures just to get that perfect one for insta. (they even help you choose that clever caption ;))
Here’s the thing about sorority girls, we believe that pictures ARE necessary. You want to capture every moment because if you don’t what else will take up all the storage in your iPhone? lol. Your sisters know that every picture has to have the perfect lighting, the perfect background, the perfect pose, etc. and trust me, they will make sure they capture the picture you were hoping for. They never get annoyed, because they understand and probably expect you to take their pictures right after they’re done taking yours. 😉
5. They understand your eating habits AND accept them. 🙂
I swear college towns have EVERY kind of food known to man. It’s like they do it on purpose (which I’m sure they do). The great thing about your sisters is that one of them is always down to go eat with you. And guess what?! They probably want exactly what you’re craving. And even if they don’t want what you want, that’s ok because they’ll go to multiple places with you and you’ll both probably order from both because why not? (gaining weight is never an issue either, because one of your sisters will MAKE you go to the gym with them!!!)
6. They’re EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!
Even on a bigger campus, you can’t go anywhere without seeing at least one of them. They’re in your lecture hall, at the gym, in the library, at Starbucks, etc…. Let’s just say you never go a day without seeing your girls!
7. No one wants to see you succeed more than they do (well maybe your parents hahaha)
Like High School Musical says, “We’re all in this together!” It’s true, your sisters are always willing to help you because they want to see you succeed and be happy. They want you to get that A on the test you’ve been stressing out over. They want to see you get that internship you’ve been dying for. They want to see you graduate with honors. THEY WANT THE WORLD FOR YOU, and they would give it to you if they could. No one wants to see you succeed more than they do. They love you and are thrilled to watch it all happen.
8. You live with them.
Who knew living with 60+ girls wouldn’t make you want to rip your hair out? Living in the house is an experience that sorority girls live for. It’s like a big slumber party, but every night. By living with your sisters, you learn everything about them, which brings you closer to each and every one of them.
9. They’re protective!
That boy that hurt you, he’s gonna get an earful! Your sisters are very protective of you. They never want to see you get hurt, so anyone that does hurt you, better watch out because they’ll never hear the end of it. No one messes with a sister!
10. They start off as sorority sisters, but turn into family ♡
These girls know everything about you. They know your strengths, your weaknesses, your embarrassing moments, and they still choose to be seen with you in public LOL. People always say you can’t choose your family, but I would choose my sisters over and over again if I had to. They are my family.
My sisters are my heart. They mean the world to me and I can’t imagine life without them! They deserve endless snaps for being the best kind of friends! Xoxo
