10 Social Distancing Dates You Need To Do ASAP

So you finally found the perfect guy who happens to be kind, smart, and drop-dead gorgeous. From good morning texts to actually snapping you back, your relationship is off to a great start. That is until COVID-19 happened.

This life-threating virus may have canceled plans across the nation, but that doesn’t mean that it has to ruin your dating life too. While social distancing isn’t something that we read about in fairytales growing up, you can make the most of it and have great date nights without seeing each other IRL. Here are ten social distancing dates that you need to try ASAP.

1. Snapchat Scavenger Hunt

Grab your partner and get ready for a good old’ scavenger hunt. Make a list of items that are easy (or hard), to find around the house and in the backyard, and then hunt for them- separately, of course. Snap each other pictures of your progress. The first person to find all the items wins and gets a contact-free pizza and bragging rights. Have fun with it! This is a great way to pass some time, and you and both of you will have a blast.

2. Netflix Watch Parties

Just because you can’t be together doesn’t mean you cant binge together. You heard it here first folks. Netflix watch parties are the picture-perfect pandemic date. Download the Netflix party extension through chrome, pop some popcorn, and live stream your favorite flick together. The best part? There will be no fighting over the remote. Stay safe bingers, Netflix just got a little more interesting.

3. Travel Abroad

Well, sort of. From Paris to Tokyo, from Barcelona to the Maldives, traveling internationally just became easier- and way less expensive. Grab your passport because these internationally themed dates are going to be out of this world- I had to guys. Text your boo and set up a time that you can both meet on Zoom.

Before you hop on, make sure to save a picture of anywhere in the world and set up a virtual background. Whether you decide to eat a plate of spaghetti overlooking the Venitian canals or toast with a bottle of champagne at the top of the Eiffel tower, this new dinner date gives you a way to explore the world with the one you love. Get creative, dine-in, or dress the part. Either way, this social distancing date will be a night that you will never forget.

4. Write A Letter

Venture back to a time were great love was separated by oceans and wars. Where the only form of communication was sending love letters to each other that were sealed with a kiss. During social distancing, it may feel like COVID-19 is pushing your relationship apart, but it doesn’t have to be.

Surprise your partner with a letter in the mail. In our digitally consumed era, it is nice to get handwritten words of affection, plus it will give you something to look forward to while this hard time passes. Try this out, even if you have the handwriting of a 5-year-old. After all, it is the thought that counts.

5. Virtual Games

Words with friends? Virtual Chess? Online Poker? Unleash your competitive nature and challenge your partner to a virtual game showdown. Playing online games is far from being new, but during the pandemic, they could provide a fun and playful social distancing date that you both will love.

From beating your high score on Mario Kart tour to figuring out how many words you actually know that start with x, virtual games are fun for everyone involved. You can even play a virtual game of monopoly- have fun and stay connected!

6. Unboxing Night

Scramble up some unwanted things around the house that you think your partner would love and make a care package for one another. Think white elephant gifts. It doesn’t have to be store-bought or expensive, just something to make your partner laugh or that you think they would enjoy.

Some ideas could be an old board game you don’t play anymore or maybe a piece of lingerie for a sexy surprise. Whatever you choose, make it silly and personal. Schedule a day that you can meet- via zoom, and unwrap your packages together. This is one of the fun and unique social distancing dates that you can do to stay connected.

7. Car Picnic

When it comes to COVID-19, the amount of decent social distancing dates are limited. If you can’t stand to stay away from your boo any longer, then it may be time for a good old fashioned car picnic. Grab the champagne and your specialty- PB&J’s and meet up with your partner in a deserted parking lot.

Roll your windows down and spend the night talking to each other from the car windows. Make sure to park at least 6 feet away from each other and practice other healthy habits. This is a great way to get some fresh air, spend time with the one you love, and enjoy each other while practicing safe social distancing.
