5 Small Brands You Need To Know About

It’s easy to follow trends from large companies, however small brands need love too! Exploring social media and finding brands that aren’t as well known can give that extra oomf to your closet. Small brands also interact with their customer base more which can keep you coming back for more and more.

1. CHINATOWN MARKET

CHINATOWN MARKET, is a relatively new brand that I’ve stumbled upon and have fallen in love with. Their clothing I would say is geared towards people who want to take their fashion out of their comfort zone. They’re constantly releasing new capsules every week that are very different from the last. They sometimes even have a few drops a day. Teaming up with artists like Trippie Redd and Rico Nasty or creating co-ord outfits with little bears on them, this company can give you anything and everything you need. If you love the brand but their clothing isn’t for you, they have accessories that can meet the standards of any shopper. Ranging from basketballs with their iconic smiley face or a simple beanie with their logo, you can still get the hype on a more laid back scale. My personal favorite that came out more recently was their “Reflexology” hoodie. I saw this bad boy and immediately purchased. The detail they put in to their products and their marketing is so incredibly appealing. I think that my favorite part of the brand is that they engage in lighthearted banter with customers and fellow employees. For example, there is this on going beef between the Instragram and Twitter guy that everyone has involved themselves in. So, if you check out this small brand, be sure to choose your fighter and buy some of their kick ass clothing.

2. Lonely Ghost

Lonely Ghost is without a doubt one of my favorite brands. Recently opening their flagship in Utah, I can’t help but be so happy for them. They take comforting sayings and put them on cozy sweatshirts, sweats, etc. With their slogan being “I Love You Say It Back,” you are for sure to make people smile as you wear it on your every day errands. They also have clothes that say “Text Me When You Get Home” and “It’s Almost The Future.” This company creates clothing that is reasonably priced and could make anyone’s day. My favorite part is that while you proudly wear your Lonely Ghost merchandise, you are a walking billboard for a message of hope and security someone didn’t know they needed. While they aren’t sending PR to some of the big influencers, this small brand has done a great job getting their name out. What I appreciate about Lonely Ghost, is that they have clothes that range from white and grey tees to neon orange and bubblegum pink. As someone who is partial to a bright fun color but has too much, I’m happy I can always grab a white long sleeve and still support this small brand.

3. Online Ceramics

This is another one of those small brands you need to be keeping your eye on. This company creates funky clothing. I truthfully do not know how to put it any other way; but I am fully obsessed with it. I am still trying to get my hands on one of their t-shirts but they just sell out too fast. So, I turned my Instagram notifications on for them and will be ready next time they release new clothes. Online Ceramics’ clothing is not for the tame shopper. They’re stuff is out of the box and honestly is up to your interpretation. There is not direct way to look at their clothing but at times, at least to me, it just doesn’t make sense. Will that stop me from buying some of their clothes though? Absolutely not. This small brand’s clothes are something that you can wear to take your outfit to that next hype level or have your parents look at you and ask what you have on. Personally, I prefer to do both of those things with the clothing I wear which is why Online Ceramics is such a coveted item for myself.

4. Boys Lie

Boys. Lie. Plain and simple. Straight to the point. This brand, wowee. Boys Lie is one of those small brands for the people who want some self empowerment. Who wants to wear a message one their back, chest, legs, butt, you name it saying I am stronger than any situation I’ve been in. Now, despite the name, this isn’t solely focused on the lies that are told. It’s focused on getting out any type of relationship and saying “bye bye.” You slip on one of their one size fits all sweatshirts and wear that PROUDLY. They make the comfiest oversized clothing that can be worn running errands or just laying on your couch hungover (my personal favorite). The two women who run and created this brand, are so incredibly transparent with their brand and in general some bad ass women. All of their clothing has some sort of saying or lines from poems that empower and build confidence in anyone who wears it. In their eyes, Boys Lie is a movement. It’s beyond a small clothing brand, it’s a way to remind people that it’s okay to move on and realize not every relationship was right for you. If you want a hoodie that pretty much says, I do not care anymore, then Boys Lie is the brand for you.

5. Badwood

Badwood is a brand ran by a girl named Natalie Wood who lives in Los Angeles. She started out doing street art that soon became one of her best selling pieces of art that she put on clothing, the OG Ski Mask. Since then, she has created pieces of art on her iPad that she transforms in to amazing pieces of clothing. This brand is intended for people who appreciate the woman’s body as some of her art focuses on solely them. She is constantly releasing and posting her art on her Instagram that gets her clientele hyped. Her friends model her clothes and her sister sometimes steps in to do collaborations called “Goodwood x Badwood”. She does polls on her Instagram stories that allows her followers to have somewhat of a say in what she produces and when it comes out. She is always answering questions and interacting with people who want to know more. She is a strong small brand owner who goes above and beyond to ensure her customers are happy.
