Perfect skin is hard to come by. And when I say “hard to come by”, I mean it’s almost impossible. If you’re striving for a glowing complexion, here are a few tips to follow that will help!
If you’re looking for that glowing complexion, then washing your face is probably one of the most important skincare tips to getting there. Using a gentle facial cleanser designed for your specific skin type (dry, oily, or combo) will help get rid of the bacteria that builds up over the day and overnight when you sleep. Yup, that’s right. Washing your face in the morning before you start your day and before you go to bed will immensely help reduce blemishes and give you a healthier glow.
Using a moisturizer after washing your face is also an essential part of getting glowing skin. Facial cleansers have the tendency to dry out your skin if you don’t follow up with a moisturizer afterward. Just like the face washes, there are a variety of moisturizers out there that will fit everyone’s specific skin needs. It might take a little digging, but it will all be worth it in the end.
Using just a makeup wipe to remove your makeup at the end of the day isn’t always the best thing for your skin. Makeup removers tend to dry out your skin and give it a dull appearance afterward. They also don’t always remove the entirety of your makeup. Leaving leftover makeup on your face will cause clogged pores and lead to possible inflammation and blemishes, which is the last thing you need if you’re looking for glowy skin. Oil or water-based makeup removers are made to be thorough enough to get rid of all of your makeup as well as not not dry out your skin in the process.
I know, I know, eating healthier is on every skincare tip list ever, but as unfortunate as it is, eating healthier does benefit your skin in the long run. Fruits and vegetables contain nutrients such as potassium, folic acid, and vitamin A and C, all things that will benefit your skin!
We all know drinking water does the body wonders, but it also greatly aids your face and is one of the most essential skincare tips there is. By drinking water, you’re helping your body flush out toxins from your system that will thankfully benefit your skin and help achieve that healthy glow. So grab a water bottle and start sipping!
Nourishing your skin with oils and face masks every once in a while will make your skin one happy camper. Facial oils have a wide variety of ingredients depending on what kind you get. Some are infused with rosehip, primrose, and even tea tree oil. They also have nutrients such as vitamin C! Certain oils can help with defying age, hydration, and softening the skin. The same goes for face masks! This skincare tip will be sure to improve the overall appearance of your skin if you treat it at least once a week.
Out of all of the skincare tips on this list, getting some exercise will take the most effort if you aren’t used to doing it every day. And I get it, we’re all busy and don’t always have time to hit the gym. But to help get that glowing complexion, exercising for at least thirty minutes every day will be sure to benefit you and your skin in the best way possible.
Relax! Stress is another unfortunate factor that can affect the appearance of your skin. I’ve known plenty of people that either break out in hives, pimples, or rashes due to built-up stress in their lives. If that sounds familiar to you, try utilizing this skincare tip by meditating and letting your body get the rest it deserves.
Over time, your beauty blender and brushes accumulate a bunch load of bacteria. If you don’t clean them regularly, all that gunk will migrate onto your face every time you use them to apply your makeup. If you happen to use a face wash, you can also use that to clean your brushes and beauty blenders! Easy, right?
Sleep is essential to ensuring your skin has that healthy glow. Lack of sleep causes the appearance of your skin to degrade at a rapid pace. Eye bags, puffiness, and outbreaks are all side effects of not hitting the hay at an appropriate hour and getting at least eight hours of sleep every night. If you’re like me and don’t have a proper sleep schedule, now is the time to start. Trust me, your skin will thank you for it.
I can’t stress enough how important sunscreen is. The sun, as fun as it is to be in, is and never will be your skin’s best friend. The sun’s rays will cause your face premature aging by giving you wrinkles if you don’t take the time to protect it with skin-friendly sunscreen. That, and you raise the risk of giving yourself skin cancer if you’re out in the sun without protection for too long and too often. If that isn’t incentive enough to wear some sunscreen, I don’t know what will be.
Over time, your pillowcases, sheets, and comforters will accumulate grime that will inevitability get onto your face when you are sleeping. And if you don’t wash your face (which you should be!) in the morning, then all of that grim will stay on your skin and cause unwanted blemishes later on. Make it a habit to wash your bedding at least once a week if you don’t have the time to change your pillowcases every day.
