A 5-Step Skincare Routine For Glowing And Healthy Skin

With the beauty industry creating all types of skincare products on a daily basis, it can be incredibly difficult to understand, create and maintain a long skincare routine. Continue reading to discover a 5-step skincare routine, that is easy to follow and adjust, and will leave you with glowing and healthy skin!

Step One – Cleanse

The first step to reveal glowing and healthy skin is to cleanse with a cleansing oil, balm or cream. A first cleanse will gently yet effectively remove makeup, dirt, grime and residue from the top layer of the skin. Cleansing properly, and taking your time whilst removing the top layer of impurities, is the most important step of a skincare routine as it is the quickest way to achieve healthy skin.

Bacteria can block pores, causing oil to clog and create blackheads, blemishes, and an overall dull and dreary complexion. Avoid this by removing makeup before going to bed, and cleansing every day.

Step Two – Double Cleanse/Exfoliate

Follow with a foaming cleanser to purify the skin with a deeper and more thorough cleanse. Use an exfoliating scrub, a konjac sponge or a clay mask to deeply exfoliate the skin three times a week, to remove dead skin cells to reveal revived, new and healthy skin. Exfoliate regularly to reveal softer and smoother skin.

The biggest benefit of double cleansing is that the first cleanser will break down any makeup, remove dirt and excess oils from the day, and clean your skin. The second cleanser will address your particular skin type or concern(s) and should have ingredients to hydrate, smooth or exfoliate, and treat acne.

Step Three – Tone

The third step to reveal glowing and healthy skin is to tone the skin, after cleansing. Apply a toner to tighten pores and to prep the skin for the next step in the routine. Toning is an important step and worth doing on a daily basis as it restores the skin’s balance, and restores the skin to its natural pH level.

A good toner will remove any remaining bits of oil, dirt and debris left behind by the cleanser. Toner can also help soothe, nourish and hydrate the skin, ahead of the next steps.

Step Four – Essence/Serum/Sheet Mask

You can choose to just do one of these steps, or if you have a bit of extra time and feel like pampering yourself, you could try all three. Use an essence, a serum and a nourishing sheet mask to target any specific skin concerns, or to plump the skin with hydration. Additionally, remember to drink water to hydrate the skin from the inside out.

Sheet masks are great to include in your skincare routine as they bring fast effects in regards to enhancing the skin. The serum within sheet masks is filled with various vitamins and minerals, and won’t dry out the skin. The sheet on your face helps the serum to soak in your skin a little longer.

Step Five – Moisturiser & SPF

The fifth and final step in a skincare routine, to reveal glowing and healthy skin, is to moisturise the skin and protect the skin from the harmful UV rays. Use an eye cream and a moisturiser to add further nutrients into the skin for a glowing and healthy complexion. Opt for a moisturiser with a high SPF to protect your skin!

Applying your moisturiser regularly and correctly, boosts hydration in your skin, prevents flaking and dullness, and creates a protective layer of moisture that lasts all day. Plus, proper application of a moisturiser will help anti-aging ingredients work better.
