10 Skincare Products From The Drug Store You Need To Try Right Now

Skincare is often viewed as a luxury. Social media and brand marketing would have you believe that you need to spend hundreds on products to get good results. Luckily, that is not the case. At your local drugstore, you can find more than enough skincare treatments that are effective at a reasonable price. Here are 10 skincare products form the drug store you need to try right now.

1. Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser

Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser is a great everyday cleanser if you have dry or sensitive skin. Cleansing is an important step in any skincare routine. Cleansing needs to be done at minimum every night to remove the build-up of dirt, pollutants, and sunscreen from throughout the day. The problem with cleansing is that it can be irritating and drying to sensitive and/or dry skin. If your face is left with a tight feeling after cleansing you are likely using too harsh of a cleanser. Cerave Hydrating Cleanser is an excellent cleanser to consider using instead. It promises to remove the layer of build-up from throughout the day without stripping the skin of its moisture. The formula contains a ceramide complex that works to improve the skin barrier. In other words, ceramides work to strengthen your skin so that it can hold moisture more efficiently. This cleanser also contains hyaluronic acid, a powerful humectant that will rehydrate the skin during cleansing. For only $10.39 at Target, this is one of the many superior skincare products available at the drug store!

2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel-Cream

If you have oily and/or acne-prone skin, it can be so difficult to find a moisturizer that is good at doing its purpose, without making your face greasy or causing pimples. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is the answer to this dilemma. Formulated to be oil-free and non-comedogenic, this moisturizer is a light gel texture that melts into the skin, unlike other moisturizers that sit on top of the skin and clog pores. This gel-cream uses dimethicone, a light-weight but effective silicone derivative that traps moisture in the skin. The difference between dimethicone and alternative moisturizers is that dimethicone allows the skin to “breathe” better than something like petrolatum or mineral oil. This is great for people with acne or oily skin. This gel-cream also contains hyaluronic acid, which will work to hold onto moisture and replenish dry skin. This is one of the most popular skincare products at the drug store and for good reason. Try it yourself for only $16.99 at Target.

3. Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30

The most important of all skincare products is of course sunscreen. Admittedly, drug store sunscreen is not the best. They tend to be goopy, smelly, and problematic for acne-prone skin. Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30 is a wonderful everyday moisturizer with SPF for skins of all stripes. This formula is oil-free and non-comedogenic, great attributes for oily skin. This sunscreen also contains allantoin, a powerful moisturizer, making this ideal for dry skin. At an SPF 30, this is a sufficient sunscreen for everyday use. If you have bad luck with drug store sunscreens, give this is a try. At only $14.39, it’s a no-brainer.

4. Eucerin Roughness Relief

If you are looking for a great body lotion, look no further than Eucerin Roughness Relief lotion. Even though it is branded for people with rough skin on the body, this body lotion is great for everyone. This formula contains a high amount of urea, a powerful moisturizer that simultaneously exfoliates the skin. Also included is lactic acid, a gentle acid that will exfoliate and hydrate the skin. Overall, this body lotion is a great way to keep your skin exfoliated and moisturized, without having to use any harsh scrubs or rags. If you are looking to start using skincare products on the body, this a great option. For only $8.99 at Target, be sure to try this out!

5. Neutrogena On-The-Spot

We all suffer from the occasional breakout. A lot of us also suffer from acne-prone skin. This product is great for both, depending on how you use it. Formulated as a gel texture, it can be worn day or night and is undetectable. Containing 2.5% of benzoyl peroxide, this is a gentle but effective way to treat acne. If you have the occasional breakout, put this on the pimple 1-2 times a day to speed up the healing process. If you have more acne-prone skin, this product can be used to treat and prevent acne over large areas. Every night, cover your acne-prone areas in a thin layer over a moisturizer. This will kill acne-causing bacteria and clear skin in as little as 4 weeks. Some skincare products use too harsh or too much acne medication that only dries out the skin. Neutrogena On-The-Spot is gentle and effective. Try this out at Target for $6.49.

6. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Melting Balm

Double cleansing is a great way to cleanse the skin of makeup and sunscreen. Double cleansing consists of using an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based cleanser, like the aforementioned Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser. A great drug store oil-based cleanser is Neutrogena Makeup Remover Melting Balm. This product will melt away makeup, sunscreen, and dirt from the day and rinse away effortlessly underwater. This is a great substitute for makeup wipes, which can dry and pull the skin without being all that effective. Pick this up at Target for $9.99!

7. Cerave Healing Ointment

If you have ever used Vaseline, this is the same thing but so much better. Instead of just being straight up petroleum jelly, Cerave Healing Ointment contains hyaluronic acid and ceramides, making it a superior skin protectant over Vaseline. This product is a thick balm, intended to heal any dry, cracked, or wounded skin. I find that this product is a great lip balm. Unlike Vaseline which has a gross taste and never sinks in, Cerave Healing Ointment stays in place better. This product is great if you suffer from any impaired skin on the face and body. Get this at Target for only $9.99.

8. PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash

If you suffer from body acne, this product is the answer. Similar to a body wash, this product should be lathered up and worn as a “mask” over any acne-prone areas of the body. Because this product contains 10% of benzoyl peroxide, it should be a nuclear bomb to any acne on the body. Be sure to moisturize to counteract any dryness. Find this at Target for $9.49.

9. L’Oreal Glycolic Acid Serum

If you are looking for a drugstore product with glycolic acid, this product is your best bet. At 10% glycolic acid, this serum is potent. If you are someone who has skin texture or acne scarring they want to smooth out, this serum will do that. Just be careful, this is one of those skincare products that can be dangerous if used incorrectly. Follow the label to get the best results. Find this at Target for $23.99.

10. Cetaphil Daily Hydrating Lotion

Despite claiming to be a lotion, this product has a thin, watery texture which almost makes it more like a serum. This “lotion” also has hyaluronic acid, making it a great humectant. Because of how thin and watery this product is, with the addition of hyaluronic acid, I find that this product can be used as a hyaluronic acid serum. If you find that your moisturizer isn’t doing a good enough job, try using this product as a serum under your moisturizer. This is a cheaper option than most hyaluronic acid serums, yet it has the same ingredients. Try this out at Target for $12.49.
