August 1 marked the beginning of Netflix releasing classic Black sitcoms to a brand new audience and today’s mainstream. Considering this, a historical series that most people recognize is ‘Sister, Sister’. The show follows the story of two identical twin sisters separated by birth and brought together by “retail fate” in one epic living situation in the suburbs of Detroit. While the hair transformations and coming of age stories were used as markers for the show, the series’ six-season run also had an ever so evolving and observable fashion sense throughout the 90s. The beginning seasons of ‘Sister, Sister’ really showcased the twins as matching fashionistas, as they coordinated colors and styles with their clothes and accessories.
