10 Signs You’re An Autumn Person

Summer is drawing to a close, and that means Autumn is almost here! In case you couldn’t tell, Autumn is my favorite season, simply because I love the aesthetics of it. I’m definitely an autumn person. Something about the leaves, the drinks, and the holidays within it make me feel all warm inside. Not to mention some of the cutest outfits can be worn in Autumn – I, for one, am dying to wear my ankle boots and teddy coat. If you’re a fellow Autumn lover like me, I’m sure you can relate to more than a few things on this list!

1. You Own Enough Sweaters For 10 People

I go on about sweater season a lot, but is it really Autumn if you don’t have a sweater for every day of the week? Sweaters for slouching in, getting coffee in, going to work in, hanging out with your friends in. Sweaters are an essential part of the Autumn aesthetic, and my stance will never budge on that. This is a sure sign you’re an autumn person.

2. You’re Fully Stocked on Hot Drinks

Why pay for a drink at Starbucks when you can make a similar one yourself? My cupboard currently has more than enough hot chocolate and green tea in it for the upcoming months, because there’s nothing like a hot drink to complete your dream cozy Autumn days and nights. You could even make a night out of experimenting with different flavors of hot chocolate and other warm drinks with your friends, complete with marshmallows and sprinkled chocolate for the top, of course!

3. You Live for The Sun Going Down Earlier

The long Summer days can be nice, but there’s something undeniably lovely about sitting in your warmly-lit bedroom surrounded by blankets and watching it go dark outside. Until it gets to Winter, that is, and the sun decides to go down at 4 pm. That’s too far.

4. You Have Matching Scarves and Hats for The Aesthetic

Nothing says Autumn better than when you step out into a chilly, breezy morning wearing an adorable beret with a matching scarf tucked into the edges of your coat that’s so large it feels as though it’s giving you a hug. Plus, the ‘gram you take of your outfit will have everyone swooning over how nice it is.

5. You Love the Smell of Bonfires

I think this is specifically a UK thing, but UK children growing up will be taught about Guy Fawkes and the 5thof November. Long story short, he and some others tried to blow up parliament with gunfire, but their plan was foiled. We celebrate this by setting off obnoxious fireworks and setting bonfires alight, sometimes with slightly disturbing Guy Fawkes dolls upon them! If you love the smell of bonfires, then you’re probably an autumn person.

6. You’re Obsessed with Halloween

What’s smack bang in the middle of Autumn? Halloween, of course! Whether you love to scare, be scared, or sit in your house hoping nobody rings the doorbell, Halloween is one of the biggest events of the season and what better way to celebrate it than with a much-too-expensive drink from Starbucks! Halloween is also, in the wise words of Mean Girls, an excuse to dress slutty.

7. You Know Nothing Is Better Than A Cosy Night In

Warm drink? Check. Numerous blankets? Check. Fluffy socks? Check. Netflix? Check! The longer nights mean you can think of nothing better than lounging in your mood-appropriate bedroom listening to the rain falling outside and catching up on that series you’ve been meaning to watch for months.

8. You Have At Least Seven Candles for Different Moods

Candles are an Autumn essential. In fact, candles are an essential all year round, but there’s something deliciously decadent about surrounding yourself with candles with rich, smoky scents and basking in their orange glow.

9. You Spend the Whole of Summer Complaining About How Warm It Is

We had an especially hot Summer in the UK this year and I felt as though I could possibly melt several times. There’s something comforting in knowing that the Autumn weather will hardly ever make you feel like that.

10. You Feel Immense Joy When You Hear the Crunch of Leaves as You Walk

Lastly, the pretty leaves are one of the best parts of Autumn. The crunch as you stroll through them and the picturesque trees and ground really make me feel happy, no matter how badly my day is going.

If that didn’t make you feel excited for Autumn, I don’t know what will! Are you an autumn person, or as much of an autumn person as I am? Tell me in the comments!
