Leaving for college has evoked feelings of nostalgia about the beauty of Warrington. It saw our cringe-worthy awkward stages and our impressive glow-ups. Warrington, oh Warrington. Home, sweet home. These are the 15 signs you grew up in Warrington PA!
Growing up in Warrington means being an essential part of the CB South community. Every Friday night we cheered on the Titans – sans Denzel Washington – sporting togas or camo.
You were nobody if you didn’t go to Valley on a Friday night. You’d start out at Panera before maturing into Chipotle culture. There is no classy way to eat a burrito in front of the group of guys from your math class.
I, and most of Warrington, cannot remember life before Wegmans. The weekly trip to Valley with the girls would not be complete without hanging out in Wegmans. That candy aisle was mesmerizing.
There’s nothing else to do in this town but follow our beloved football games with half-priced apps at the Applebee’s on 611. Let’s not forget a water because half priced apps didn’t mean we could splurge on a soda.
Whether it’s because your 7th grade boyfriend brought you Monsters to school or because your wardrobe consisted of nothing but Aeropostale sweatshirts and UGGs, the three years at Tamanend have supplied us with iconic memories and comedic stories to share. P.S. Thank you CBSD for giving us those navy gym shorts (which I embarrassingly enough continue to sleep in after all these years).
Warrington is divided between people with parents from Philly and people with parents from the suburbs. That led to the ongoing debate regarding the correct way to say ‘water’. P.S. Both water and wooder are correct pronunciations.
There is something unforgettable about sitting at the Bristol and 611 intersection for 30 minutes during rush hour. I still get the shakes thinking about sitting in the middle of the road, trying to turn left as the light turns red.
The introduction of a cute breakfast café got everyone out of their bed in the morning and to Valley Square to order pancakes or eggs. It was hard to admit that Warminster West was just as good, and includes the bonus of little to no wait.
A pack of our peers trekked from Tamanend to Rita’s on the first day of spring for a medium Juicy Pear or Swedish Fish. Plus, you got a major shoulder workout from lugging your Vera Bradley tote bag across 611 after school.
Meyer Way Park is the place to have your hot date as a 10 year old. Your friends meet up with his friends and then squeal when you kiss in the enclosed part of the play set. Let’s not forget how much fun those tire swings were.
Walking through the haunted maze shouldn’t have made you jump as much as it did because you most likely went to school with all of the actors. However, it was the perfect way to whip out your Uggs (even though it was muddy) and get into the Halloween mood.
Faceoff, now Bucks County Ice Sports, was the move on a Friday night in 7th and 8th grade. There were always cute boys from other schools in their hockey skates.
You don’t feel like you have fully earned the right to say that you are from Philadelphia because you grew up in a suburban town an hour outside of the city. However, no one knows where Warrington or Bucks County is on the map, so saying you’re from outside of Philly is the best bet.
Growing up in Warrington means that there is a high chance you will end up attending Penn State, Temple, or West Chester. Not to be biased or anything, but Go Owls!
Eventually you realize you’ve done it all in this town. There’s nothing else to do but to hang out in basements and drive up and down 611. I guess that means it’s time to move on.
