You won’t always know right away if the person you’re with is the one for you. There isn’t always a “love at first sight” situation. Sometimes it takes time and thought before you realize how perfect they are. If you’re unsure if you’re meant to be, here are 20 telltale signs you are meant to be together.
This might not seem all that important, but just imagine all the time you’ll spend in the car with this person. Picture long road trips arguing about whether to play country or classic rock. Having someone who listens to the same bands as you just makes life a little easier and a little more fun because you can go to a whole bunch of concerts!
Every relationship has its problems. Every couple fights. But what separates a good couple where signs you are meant to be together and a bad couple is their mindset when they fight. If you’re only trying to be right and prove your partner wrong, then you aren’t fighting correctly. You should be trying to come to a mutual ground when fighting. It’s not about coming out on top. It’s about sharing your feelings and getting back to a place of normalcy.
It’s okay to be down sometimes. Not everyone is always at the top of their game. If you can show your partner the moments when you’re at your worst that’s when you know you really trust them.
These don’t even have to be big life-shattering secrets. It might be the story of when you got pantsed on the playground in third grade. The point is that you’re comfortable telling them everything – even the little stuff.
If you aren’t completely embarrassed and ashamed for your wacky great aunt to meet your partner, then you’ve got yourself a keeper. Introducing a boyfriend or girlfriend to the family is a huge step that a lot of relationships don’t get to. So kudos to you if yours gets there!
Especially in girl friend-groups, it takes a lot to get the stamp of approval. They’re always looking out for your best interests and aren’t afraid to tell you if you’re being completely oblivious to the fact that he kicks puppies or some other horrible trait.
This doesn’t mean that you literally have to be friends before you become a couple. I just mean that you should be able to have a real conversation or just lay around as two people who like each other. It doesn’t always have to be a date situation with the right person.
When signs you are meant to be together, you won’t feel the need to fill the silence with a stupid conversation that doesn’t matter. It won’t matter if you stop talking for a while and just enjoy each other’s company.
Being with someone who accepts you for who you are is great. Someone who accepts you while also pushing you to be the best version of yourself is even better. The right person will want you to succeed in every aspect of life and they’ll be right by your side cheering and helping you along the way.
Couples that feel the need to spend every waking moment with each other is so beyond unhealthy. When you’re with the right person, you’ll want to spend time with your friends and family. And what’s even better, they won’t make you feel bad for not inviting them to wine night with the girls!
There are three versions of yourself. You in public. You with people you’re comfortable with. And you when you’re alone. When signs you are meant to be together, you’ll be able to do all the weird and nasty stuff that you do at 1 a.m. together.
If you can’t picture yourself with your partner in 50 years, old and grumpy together then it’s just not meant to be. There’s really no point being with someone who you don’t see a future with. It’s a waste of everyone’s time.
Even if you have disagreements, you’ll be able to see the other person’s point. Whatever their opinion is, it shouldn’t be something so out there that you feel like your partner is some stranger. With the right person, you can disagree completely but it shouldn’t tear you apart.
You don’t have to have the exact same interests down to your drink order. But, it’s important to have some commonalities. If you disagree on core values, it probably won’t work out in the long run.
Humor is such an important part of a relationship. Everyone wants to be that old couple that pulls pranks on each other and the way to do that is to be able to have fun with your partner. No matter how old you get, if you think he/she is funny then you’ll be set for life.
I mean, duh. But if you aren’t attracted to them on a very basic level then it’ll never work out. You’ll think the right person is just as cute first thing in the morning out as when they’re all dolled up.
If you can’t call your significant other on their bullshit then don’t even bother! If they’re being a dick to the waitress or they’re fly is undone or they’re being completely oblivious and you can’t say jack sh-t, then you shouldn’t be together.
When signs you are meant to be together your “person” will make any situation better. A doctor’s visit will turn into a fun date with the One. Going to the grocery store will become your favorite activity. No matter the scenario, you’re partner should be able to make it better in some way.
A little jealousy is normal in any relationship. But if you’re with the right person, it shouldn’t be debilitating. If you go out to drinks with a work friend, they should trust you enough to keep it platonic. And vice versa. Trust is key in a relationship!
The most important thing in a relationship is communication. You’ll be able to talk about anything from the dream you had last night to the time your favorite grandma died with the right person.
