10 Signs That Prove You Chose The Right College

Anyone who has gone through the college application process knows that it is beyond stressful. You write numerous essays, go through multiple applications, and for some, you even go through an interview. Upon being accepted, you would think that all the stress would go away. This may be the case until it comes to choosing which school you will spend the next four years of your life at. Whether you are a high school junior preparing for this process, a high school senior who just made this decision, or a current college student, keep reading for 10 signs that show you definitely chose the right college!

1. It Feels Like Home

The school you choose will become your home away from home for the next four years. It is important that you choose a school that you feel comfortable and invited at.

2. The School Has Your Intended Major

It is important to have an idea of what you plan on majoring in when you choose your school. You want to make sure that you will be able to do all four years of study for your major at that school.

3. It Is A Comfortable Distance Away From Home

Many students plan to go out of state until they realize how far the school is away from their home. You want to make sure that the distance away from home and your family is something that you are comfortable with. If you are someone who gets home sick, it may not have been the best choice to go out of state.

4. You Like The School Colors

For once, you get to have a say in your school colors. It’s important to choose colors that you will wear with pride as you represent your school at sporting events and around campus.

5. You’re Comfortable With The Size And Population

Going from a high school that has a couple thousands students to a college with a population of 15,000+ can be intimidating. The population size will also determine many of your class sizes. If you are someone who likes smaller class sizes or needs more one on one time with your teacher, a big school might not be the right choice for you.

6. It is Cost Effective

Attending the school of your choice shouldn’t leave you in loan debt for the rest of your life. You want to make sure that you are making the correct financial choice when choosing what school you will attend.

7. The Campus Amenities

As mentioned above, your chosen school will become your new home for the next few years. Does the campus have your favorite Chick-Fil-A around for when you get cravings? Or a CVS for when you run out of toothpaste? Does the school offer bus services to drive you around campus? It’s important that your chosen school has all the amenities that you may need.

8. It Has Extracurriculars That Interest You

While it is important to stay on top of your studies, a huge part of college is what you get involved in. You want to make sure you choose a school that offers extracurriculars that you can get involved in. Whether you’re interested in Greek Life, club sports, or student government, many schools offer extracurriculars that fit into everyone’s interests.

9. The Weather

You want to make sure that the weather in your school’s town is one that you will be able to handle. Remember that you will have to walk across campus to get to your classes. If it snows, you will have to trail through snow to get to and from. If you’re going somewhere warm, you’re going to work up a sweat walking around.

10. The School Has A High Alumni Success Rate

Overall, college is to prepare you for future job success. Make sure you did your research on the graduation rates and alumni success from your selected college to help predict your own personal success and insure you’re on the right path.
