North Eastern Pennsylvania (NEPA), a place like no other. Sure, you say you hate Scranton, but do you actually? Chances are, probably not. The memories, the gossip, the love and support from your area is nothing that can be replaced. Here are 15 signs you grew up in NEPA or Northeastern Pennsylvania.

1. Whenever you say you’re from Scranton, you always hear something about The Office.

People from Scranton really know how this goes down.

Scrantonians: “Oh yeah, I’m from Scranton.”

Person not from Scranton: “OH MY GOSH, LIKE THE OFFICE?!?!? I love that show!”

Scrantonians: “Uh, yeah. Like The Office.”

2. Concerts at Montage.

Whenever there is a concert going up at Montage, everyone, and their mother, goes to that concert. Even if you don’t know about that concert, you will be asked if you’re going.

3. Ordering a tray of pizza, not a pie.

Yes, we know it’s a pie. Do we care? No. If you’re in Scranton, it’s a tray.

4. The Electric City.

The good ol’ nickname for Scranton. Scranton, WHAT, THE ELECTRIC CITY!!!!!

5. The Food

There is no better food than the food in your hometown. You will always find the coolest restaurants around whether that is in Scranton or Wilkes Barre, you’ll always find good eats.

6. When you and your friends are bored, go to Sheetz.

Those nights where you’re with your friends at your house and you have nothing to do there’s always the question, “Wanna go to Sheetz?” and you usually say “sure,” every time.

7. Driving around on the weekends.

9 out of 10 times you will be driving around, blasting music with your friends because there is nothing to do if you’re under 21.

8. Friday Night Lights

Football is a HUGE thing in Northeastern Pennsylvania. If you say you don’t like football, that’s basically like swearing on the Bible.

9. The Potholes

When you’re driving with other people and you go over a pothole you will either hear, “Ooooooh.” or “OW!”. If you ever decide that you wanted to ruin your tire, just go over a pothole in the streets!

All over NEPA, there are small towns and small towns equals everyone finds out anything and everything. It’s a blessing and a curse.

What’s the difference between the two? There isn’t. We just use the word Noodie; it means, sweatshirt + no hood= noodie.

13. Our love for Middleswarth Chips.

Middleswarth Chips are the best chips to ever be made, hands down, no questions asked. The only thing is that they are sold in Northeastern, PA and you’re truly missing out on the best BBQ chips around.

14. The national holiday, Parade Day.

Parade Day is like Christmas for Irish people. Even if you’re not Irish on Parade Day, you’re 100% Irish without any questions. There are tons of festivals in Scranton, but this one is the most memorable or in some peoples cases, most unmemorable.

15. Ain’t no party like a Scranton party.

This is the most famous quote used for Scranton if you’re from the area because it is true. Ask anybody about the parties in Scranton and they will respond with this quote and you love it.
