5 Shows You Need To Watch That Embody Girl Power

Every now and then a show about girl power will air on television and it slowly becomes one of your favorites. In today’s world young girls and women need to see what being a strong, hard working,  independent woman means and how to take back some of the power. Girl power is important especially when so many women are treating each other as the enemy and someone they need to fight. An all female cast is hard to come by and they don’t always last. But to know what it means to have girl power here are 5 Shows You Need To Watch That Embody Girl Power!

1. Sex And The City

Although the series follows four single women in search for romance in New York City the bond these four women have is what can be remembered most about the show. From 1998 to 2004 the romantic sitcom followed Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda through finding and eventually losing love, marriage and eventually divorce, fertility issues, pregnancy, pregnancy scares, and lots of men. These women never judged one another for the choices they made. Instead they supported, encouraged, and motivated one another. Also, get you a friend like Charlotte.

2. The Bold Type

The relatively new show aired in 2017 and gives the audience a glimpse into the lives of Jane, Kat and Sutton as they take on corrupt politicians, relationships, abortion, self identity and gender inequality while working at Scarlett Magazine in New York City. All in their mid to late 20s the trio is not afraid to speak their mind and stand up for what is right. If one of them is going through it you’ll always see the other two by her side helping her every step of the way. They will teach you how to use your voice and create change.

3. H2O

Three friends who become mermaids, have adventures together and support each other? Where do I sign up? From 2006 to 2010 your favorite mermaids swam the ocean, protecting it, each other and their secret. As they navigate the rough waters known as high school, boys and the evil people trying to discover and exploit them, they’ll need each other to get through it all. Luckily, they have the ocean to escape to and what’s better than getting to swim with dolphins and having magical powers?

4. Riverdale

Although, the show revolves around murder and the mysteries of the town of Riverdale Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge show you what it’s like to be a lady with class who’s also not afraid to kick some ass. Spoiler alert: Veronica goes as far as to drink a glass of what could possibly be poison so Betty wouldn’t have to. I mean talk about sacrifice. Although in their own relationships, the two besties aren’t afraid to ditch their fellas whenever one of them needs the other. They’re River Vixens with some serious kicking power.

5. Charmed

Lastly, even though these three women are sisters doesn’t mean they have to back one another up. Girl power combined with some witch power makes for a powerful force. Balancing a career, motherhood and trying to figure out your identity all while being a witch is not easy for these three sisters and having anyone to talk about it with makes for a lonely life but luckily these three sisters have each other to rely on. Whether it’s demons or men who act like demons these sisters have each other’s back. Nothing can come between these sisters.
