Self Tanners You Have To Try For The Perfect Look

There is nothing like putting on a fresh layer of self tanner. It’s so simple and quick it makes no sense why you wouldn’t want to self tan all year round. Forget the tanning beds because we all know nothing good comes from those. Tanning at home has never been easier. The problem is figuring out which self tanners work well. There are so many out there it can be hard to figure out which ones actually do their job.

Before applying your self tanner, there are a few steps to follow. Start by exfoliating your body. This will help get that layer of dead skin off that can cause your tan to look streaky. There are a ton of body exfoliants on the market right now or you can make your own at home. Either way, scrub your skin. Then make sure you are shaved where you want to apply the product. This will also help with giving a smoother look. My little trick before applying my self tanner is to put some lotion on the rougher parts of my skin like my ankles, knuckles, elbows and knees. All of these steps will just ensure that the tan will last as long as possible and that it won’t cause a streaking mess all over your body.

OK ladies, grab your tanning mitt and let’s get to work.

1. Loving Tan

This tanner is from Australia but as of recent, it can now be purchased in the U.S. in Ulta Beauty. It comes in a ton of different usages depending on your skin tone and how long you want your tan to develop. The 2-hour express tan is one of their most popular products because it develops quickly. This product won’t leave you smelly either which can be a concern with a lot of self tanners. While it is on the pricey side, the 2-hour tanner costing $60, it really is worth the money because the results are amazing.

2. Jergens Instant Sun

This product is great all around. The price won’t break the bank and it doesn’t have to be purchased online or in beauty stores. You can buy this sunless tanner at any drugstore. It works instantly so there’s no need to wait for it to develop. It does leave a lingering smell but if you enjoy the smell of self tanner you won’t mind this. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to get bronzed for your next event, this product is for you. Costing at $11.99, you really can’t beat it. The only downfall is the lack of shades it comes in.

3. Bondi Sands

Like Loving Tan, this product was originally only sold online. They have recently placed it in Walgreens in the U.S. and we couldn’t be happier. This tan is a happy medium on the price point. For their basic self tanning foam, it’ll set you back just $24. It doesn’t streak on the body and looks real. It’s enriched with aloe vera to give you soft skin and infused with a delicious coconut scent. Bondi Sands definitely does its job.

4. St. Tropez

St. Tropez is my go-to if I need an instant tan that looks incredible. They have a dark tanning mist that you spray on your body, rub in and you are good to go. It evens out your skin tone and gives you an all over glowing complexion. This product is perfect if you need your arms and legs to look fabulous in a dress for an event. It costs around $40 and you can usually find it at Marshals or T.J. Maxx now. It really works wonders.

5. Tan Towel

This product really blows the rest off the shelf. It is a little wet towelette that you rub on your skin or face and it will give you a bronzed glow. They are a single-use product and dry within seconds. This product will develop more over time so if you apply it to your body make sure you are prepared to wait for it to develop. They are nice to rub on at night because you will wake up with a gorgeous tan. The face towelettes are also nice because you have more control when applying it so you won’t miss any areas. This product costs around $17 and can be purchased at your local Walmart.
