Los Angeles is a pretty iconic city. It is after all home to Hollywood. People from all over the world travel to see its many emblematic sites. However, Los Angeles has some secret spots that nobody really ever seems to mention, which is a shame because they are pretty rad! If you are a curious tourist or even a local, these spots are worth knowing about  Here are 10 spots in Los Angeles that are totally worth checking out!

1. Abandoned Zoo

Located in Griffith Park, this secret spot is actually what remains of the old LA Zoo. With graffiti decorating its walls, you’ll feel the urge to take out your phone and snap some pictures for your Instagram! You’ll feel like you’re in an urban jungle. Don’t worry no animals are roaming around in the cages. It is a great place to explore for your next trip to LA.

2. Museum of Broken Relationships

This place may sound like a heartbreak waiting to happen, but it’s actually quite sweet. With the original museum located in Zagreb, Croatia, the LA location opened in 2016. The museum consists of donated items from people’s past relationships. Placards hold the story behind the donated items. The collection ends up bringing closure to those who donated and allows the opportunity for comfort and reminiscing to those who’ve visited. Add this to your LA bucket list!

3. Idle Hour Bar

This is as meta as it gets in Los Angeles! This is because the Idle Bar is shaped like a giant keg. When you step in, you are literally walking into a keg to have a beer. How whimsical! The bar’s unique design is a product of “programmatic architecture” dating back to the 1920’s. Today, after a tumultuous history and an escape from permanent closure, the bar is back to serving booze and remains one of LA’s historic monuments.

4. Beverly Hills’ Witch’s House

This looks like a house straight out of Snow White. This tourist attraction is rumored to give bags of candy and money on Halloween. If this is true, then we know what house we will be trick-or-treating at this Halloween! Don’t worry, a witch doesn’t live here. It’s just a man who bought it and restored it so the locals could revel in it’s nostalgic qualities.

5. The Museum of Jurassic Technology

The collections at this museum are unique. They aren’t your typical artifacts or art collections. Instead, this museum’s collections consist of items believed to advance our knowledge. Some of their exhibitions include, “Tell The Bees: Belief, Knowledge, and Hyper symbolic Cognition.” This collection is all about “pre-scientific cures and remedies.” Another exhibition is entitled, “The Garden of Eden on Wheels:Collections from Los Angeles Area Trailer Parks.” If you want a unique museum experience, then be sure to stop by the next time you are in town!

6. Time Travel Mart

Located in Los Angeles’ Echo Park, this convenient store sells items from every time period. From lost languages to Greek togas, this has things for travelers of all time ages. A collaboration with 826LA, which is a writing program meant to help young readers and writers improve their skills. It’s great when a local business gives back to the community! 7. Break Room 86

This may look like a garage sale, but inside is a whole ‘80’s themed party complete with tunes, booze, and memorabilia. Dance the night away and escape this era for a short time. Head over to Korea town to get the party started. We just hope you don’t miss it!
