Save On Your Wireless Bill

Picking a wireless plan can be pretty difficult, especially when it starts to get all technical and you start to lose track of what exactly it is you’re actually buying. It all depends on how much you actually talk on the phone versus text, how much data you use, and when you use your phone the most. Also, it’s important to know whether or not you can stick with your provider for the length of your contract, or if you have to sign a contract at all.

The most important rule for college students is to stay on your family plan for as long as possible. This way you won’t have to worry about all the technical jargon, or spending all of your money on a wireless plan. I’ve already graduated college and I plan to stay on my family plan for as long as I can. It is cheaper for you and your family, and it helps you to keep in touch.

If you are getting your own wireless plan, Verizon Wireless and AT&T tend to be more expensive than other brands. However, use Verizon Wireless with Studentrate, and you will get 8% off on your recurring monthly charges. If you’re a new customer, you’ll get an additional $35 cash back.

T-Mobile has a couple of great plans that work well for college students or graduates looking for their own plan.

T-Mobile offers the simple choice plan which is a non-contract plan that gives you unlimited talk and text and 500 MB of data, or half a gigabyte..

For $60 a month, only $10 more than the last plan and again with no contract, you get unlimited talk and text and you get 2 gigabytes of data per month, plus the 500 MB, so you’ll have two and a half gigabytes of data. The best part about T-Mobile is that if you do go over your data, they don’t stop you (though they will slow down your service) and you don’t get charged for it like you would with other brands. If you use a lot of data, I would definitely recommend this plan over the other because it’s only $10 more and you get a lot more data usage.
